Time between level-ups: always the same or increasing?

I really can't say. Back when I still tracked XP I definitely preferred it to take longer and longer to level, but even then it varied dependent on XP values of monster, treasures, etc... that counted toward XP. Now my perception is that I do have them spend longer and longer at each level as...

Time between level-ups: always the same or increasing?

I don't even track XP anymore. I level them when I am done using all the monsters and NPC's I want to for their current level. So I advance them to allow me to use new sets of level appropriate opponents involved in my over arching story lines.

Anyone pick up the 3.5 reprints?

Anyone see WOTC say precisely what they mean by "latest errata" in the ad blurb? Because if it includes all the final versions of spells, notably Polymorph, that would give me a good enough reason to buy.

Good to point out how interchangeable they are. So yeah, pick one to start with, and go from there, if you feel like doing so. As far as clones go, and the originals for that matter, it may be best to go with the order in which the originals came out. So first go with Swords and Wizardry or the...

Anyone pick up the 3.5 reprints?

I have a lot of RPG's too, but I have played the vast majority of them, and of the few I have not played, I intend to, at least at conventions, if not at home. For example, I have not played the DCC RPG since it came out, but a friend of mine and I are talking about playing it on Saturdays...

    A simple few questions

At first, like with any new experience things move slowly, but with practice/experience, the pace picks up. We use over sized graph paper for mapping the "dungeon". I use a dry erase laminated map I got from Paizo to draw out the "battle map", if I am not using my tile sets. I believe the...

    A simple few questions

There are always exceptions to pretty much every rule, and Colonies were often exceptions, as would be new nations, until they do set up their own official "coin". Generally, through history, what I wrote applies. What was the deal with labeling the dollar San Francisco or Boston? I just...

Anyone pick up the 3.5 reprints?

Heck, I don't care if its $5 per item, if I don't believe I will ever play it, I don't buy it.

Anyone pick up the 3.5 reprints?

Unfortunately the books are shrink wrapped, so all I can tell you is they "feel" well done, but until someone comes along who has bought them, or handled unwrapped copies, I have no better info for you.

Plus the clones are much better written for clarity, and the lay out/organization is much better too.

Look up the free PDF's of OSRIC, Labyrinth Lord, Dark Dungeons and Swords and Wizardry and you can see for yourself. Especially OSRIC and Swords and Wizardry, they are pretty loyal "clones", where as LL and DD deviate a little bit, but not in very significant ways, so are still worth checking...

    A simple few questions

He is not talking nation to nation, he is talking changing copper to silver, silver to gold, etc... Money changers charged an average of 20% for their "fee". What I read did not go into detail about everything they did for the 20%, but I definitely got the impression it was pretty much for just...

    A simple few questions

    1. Money changers averaged a fee of 20%. Some charged as high as 50%, but that was when they were the only one around, or they had an "agreement" with their competitors. So that is a real world base line for you. 2. Drawing maps as you go definitely slows down the pace of your game, but I also...

Anyone pick up the 3.5 reprints?

I love my 1E reprints. I think they are gorgeous and very nicely constructed and I for one have no problems with the minor changes done to the art when they were converted to digital format. (They cleaned up the art due to garbage picked up in scanning, so removed some of the original texture...

Vorpal and Sharpness and Fumble rules...

I'm not debating anything. I've been using crits/fumbles for about 28 years now. I like them, my players like them, and my groups tend to stay together for years (My newest group is working on its 6th year together, with 4 of 6 of my players being originals). So it works for me and my players...

Vorpal and Sharpness and Fumble rules...

They actually do nerf casters in my games, but that is because I allow SIEGE rolls to be made to change their spells. Common changes are changing energy type, maximizing damage, extending range, and increasing number of targets that can be affected. Now if they do nothing to modify the spell...

    AD&D H1-H4 Bloodstone Adventures: Advice?

I don't recall the battles having that many units to really take up all that much time to move them, but I may have had each tile represent more than one unit. Like I said, too long ago to remember such details.

Vorpal and Sharpness and Fumble rules...

Actually, it just means I play by the rules by making such spells available/usable in my games. I have thought about eliminating them, but couldn't think of a better way to allow players to keep playing their PC's when killed, which will eventually happen, in all likelihood. I have had some PC's...

Vorpal and Sharpness and Fumble rules...

Yeah, in my games I have a confirmation roll, then we determine what happens. Just with a Vorpal or Sharpness weapon, any result that involves the words "Hit self" means body parts are coming off.
