How can I run a military campaign over a messageboard?

Your best bet may be to retool a standard board game for it - like axis and allies. I can't think of any RPGs that handle that sort of campaign level well. Alternatively you can do nearly diceless with it, at most use a flip of the coin for those circumstances where there really is a chance of...

    what's you're favourite TSR/ WotC setting?

Planescape! Why? Well *duh* ;) It's the one setting that directly encourages the depth of character development (via the power of belief mechanics) that I prefer to see and play in my games. The flexibility and openness of the setting helps as well.

How to make a maze work?

If you haven't yet - pick up a pad of lab paper from a bookstore - the kind that does carbon copies. 'Draw' your maze with the blunt end of a pen - and that way you get a maze pre-done on your end, and they get one that grows as they explore. Out of curiosity - why shouldn't they have an idea...

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour (Updated 29 Jan 2014)

Yeps. Mind you - the overtime is wonderful. The stagger home, vague grunt, and pass out into bed with the shoes still on - probably hasn't helped the writing. ;)

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour (Updated 29 Jan 2014)

Unfortunately, most of the game group are not really number crunchers aside from whatever makes the DM happy and lets the concept shine through. So not really up our alley much.

    Pirate crews

The reason I ask about the player's tendencies (not the characters) is cause it will influence what suggestions we give you. Games tend to go better if you play your player first *then* play your player's characters after you've figured out what makes your player tick. So if she's the plotting...

What sort of player do you have? The charge head and let god sort them out sort? Or the long term planner schemer sort?

Attention Planescape fans...I need source info!

Planewalker has the web supplements of other factions from Christopher Campbell located here. Not published, but close to it at least. For non canon but still cool: There's kriegstanz.com. Planewalker also has our own PSCS releases located here. I'm currently working on the next edit of...

    Tiefling Names

Tiefers can appear just about anywhere so you'd want to pick something appropriate for wherever they grew up / whoever raised them. Usually the mortal (human, elf, or whatnot) raises them. But some fiendish parents may stay in contact with their descendants, or raise them to be useful pawns - so...

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour (Updated 29 Jan 2014)

Can be - but the thought Toras is coming from - is based on a character in a game that Tristol's player is currently running for us. A celestial whose True Name was robbed from him by a very powerful and very evil wizard of Shade. Mechanically the character is human - no powers, nothing fancy...

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour (Updated 29 Jan 2014)

Treats it much the same as a PC death (true res works) - mostly to avoid the stress and frustration of players at the table playing outsiders.
