Deities and Demigods ~ Alter Reality Salient Divine Ability

Why would any deity with the Alter Reality salient divine ability need any additional spell-like abilities, or class levels as an arcane or divine spellcaster?! Alter Reality allows a deity to cast any spell of 9th level or lower...and with no XP or gp cost! The DC (if I recall) for Alter...

Weird rumor concerning "Book of Vile Darkness"

Thanks for your reply! :D This is good. 2nd Edition utterly ruined the devilish hierarchy and the balance of power in the Nine Hells.

Deities and Demigods ~ Thank You God!

I think ultimately the problem is balance. Whether or not Moradin would "abuse" this power is irrelevant to the fact that he has it. And there is nothing to keep evil deities from possessing it.

Archdevils and demon princes in Monte's book

How about Barry Manilow as an Archdevil?

Weird rumor concerning "Book of Vile Darkness"

Re: Re: Weird rumor concerning "Book of Vile Darkness" Monte... :) Will Asmodeus be treated as a deity (DR 0+)? What about his supposed "true" form (sorry, but I absolutely hated this idea from Guide to Hell). Please tell me he isn't a greater deity...with the other archdevils without so much...

Weird rumor concerning "Book of Vile Darkness"

All very good questions, Lord Noah. I must say that I am displeased with their approach to the book. The apocolyptic inclusion of archdevils and demon princes, it is perceived, will warrant an ungodly $32 for the book. I'd much rather see these beings included in a Monster Manual, or even...

Archdevils and demon princes in Monte's book

Great! I look forward to your work (as I'm sure countless others do as well)!..."from the original 1E"... I love it. :D

Archdevils and demon princes in Monte's book

So, the Book of Vile Darkness will contain stats for "all the major archdevils and demon princes"? Hmmm. I wonder if they will be appearing in other supplements in the future?

Deities and Demigods ~ Thank You God!

I think you are right. 1st Ed.'s Unearthed Arcana refers to it, as does the 2nd Ed. Monster Mythology.

Deities and Demigods ~ Thank You God!

Although I've promised an extensive review of D&Dg, I don't have the book on hand while I have Web access (at work), so I'll post impressions of the book, supplemented with some thoughts and opinions about the book (its utility, etc.). 3rd Ed. Deities and Demigods provides full stats and...

Deities and Demigods ~ Thank You God!

...then you die and go to Hell *cough*...Baator...*cough*. And if you are one of those "barmy Primes" lucky enough to reside in the Planescape cosmology, you might just be a headen' for ye Blood War.

Deities and Demigods ~ Thank You God!

"The balls"!? If TSR and WotC were/are "brave" enough to stat deities from real world pantheons, what sort of "balls" are requisite to lump them into a single cosmology? Mr. Wyatt himself even stated that 3rd Ed. D&Dg draws much more heavily, in form and substance, from the 1st Ed. book than...

Deities and Demigods ~ Thank You God!

Dido, Krusty. In my opinion, 3rd Ed. D&Dg is the true successor to 1st Ed. D&Dg, in more than just its name. As to it being too "stat-heavy", I would have purchased the book even if it were like its predecessor...with minimal flavor/descriptive text and full stats!

Deities and Demigods ~ Thank You God!

How right you are! ;) Seriously, though. I thought that with the Planescape-heavy nature of the MotP, you guys would back off from complaining about deities having stats. And as for the endless whining of old schoolers...Where? When? Perhaps I was on vacation? In my personal experience, I've...

Deities and Demigods ~ Thank You God!

I'll tell you what really frightens me. Kurtulmak, the deity of KOBOLDS, far surpassing Asmodeus in power. And they both dwell in the Nine Hells!

Deities and Demigods ~ Thank You God!

Well, I'd say its about time they did something just for old schoolers... 1. "Demon" and "devil" are still entirely inseparable from the "tanar'ri" and "baatezu" names, and the Blood War, unfortunately, is still canon. 2. Despite the ceaseless grumbling of Planescape fans, the Great Wheel...

Some ideas for an "open" cosmology?

Re: Re: Some ideas for an "open" cosmology? Well, what I have in mind is one plane per pantheon, in addition to the 20+ planes I have already (!). I know Forgotten Realms has a single plane for the Pharaonic pantheon (Heliopolis?). Something like that. In my campaign, Krusty, names ARE...

Some ideas for an "open" cosmology?

Previously, my cosmology had been "closed", to use a term furnished by the great one, Upper_Krust. With the acquisition of Deities and Demigods, I want to use all of the non-Greyhawk deities in the book within my own cosmology. What I want to do is have the Olympic, Pharoanic, and Asgardian...

Deities and Demigods ~ Thank You God!

It was Friday, April 12, 2002. 4:25 PM. Not even 30 minutes after getting home from work. I place a call to the Hobby Center. "Do you have Deities and Demigods in yet?" "Yes, we do." ...Click... My emotions overcame me. I was drifting in and out of Limbo. Before I knew it, I was driving down...
