30 Years of Weird - Strangest Campaigns Ever

I read a short story once that was similar to this. Where a fighter pilot went over the rainbow and the stuff he brought with him had a profound effect on the Land of Oz. (Only read it once though, so barely remember it.) Great ideas.

Ideas: Run on the Tower of the Twelve

Players of my game...stop reading. So in my game, the players are after a very large statue that is currently housed in the Tower of the Twelve in Korth. (Eberron setting) To get it, they are going to do a "shadowrun" on the Tower. So now I'm looking for ideas on how to set it up. And...

DM Tricks to Challenge Tough PCs with Weaker Enemies

From what I remember, there is no rules in any edition for this. Isn't this house ruling as well?

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder's Goblins

According to Wiki, its spelled Isz. I looked for pics of them, but didn't have any luck. I only have a white belt in Google-Fu.

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder's Goblins

The goblins remind me of the evil Isz from The Maxx, which is a good thing.

Ok, Im sold. Those goblins are freaking awesome. That and magic specializations based on the seven deadly sins. And this is inspired:

    Why Worldbuilding is Bad

This is true, it is a GM problem. My guess though is that if a GM creates something, they are going to want to show it off, which could lead to the world they created overshadowing the game at the table. This is sorta what I think Harrison might be talking about. If you spend all this time...

    Why Worldbuilding is Bad

If everything in the world is predetermined before the characters are even created, then the likelihood of them affecting the world is next to none. There is no sense of wonder in exploring or discovering whats over the next hill when its already written down for you to read. Look at...

    Why Worldbuilding is Bad

My thoughts exactly. Its the player's actions that they remember, not the world that a GM created. Gameworlds are good as a tool for the GM to create the setting for the players, but should never be the focus of the game. The players are.

    Why Worldbuilding is Bad

Just because I don't care to build Middle-Earth doesn't mean that my game doesn't have details or is in the process of building something beyond the characters. For myself, it means that I prefer the gameworld and its details to be built within the confines of the sessions and discussion...

    Why Worldbuilding is Bad

Hey, follow your bliss. If that's detailing the eating habits of the Sewer denizens of the City State of Gobblegook, then go for it. Will the majority of it get used in a game and will the players care beyond the loot of the dead guy on thier sword? That's pretty unlikely. Players only care...

    Why Worldbuilding is Bad

Heh...I was just considering posting this...saw it on William Gibson's blog. Never create beyond the surrounding hexes or the next session. Crude outlines sure, but anything more detailed can limit your creativity. (This has been my big hangup with published settings lately, they are great...

    A Far Out Rant

Check out Carpenter's In the Mouth of Madness. Very lovecraftian, even got the squidies :) (Would make a fun Far Realm plot for a game too)

    A Far Out Rant

A plotline that struck me was a lower ranking devil/demon that finds out about the Far Realm and summons one of them, thinking it could use a Far Realmian to destroy his rivals. Unfortunately, for the fiend, his plan works too well, the Far Realms entity is much too powerful to control, and...

Save My Game - Goes off like a bomb!

While I agree with this, videogames still have not grasped the ability to react to players like a GM can. Even in WoW, which I consider to be pretty complex, its still a coded response to players actions, that can be quantified and then written into guides. (DO this to fight this boss. The...

    A Far Out Rant

Glad you liked it. I wouldn't bother so much with balancing it, since they are the "bad" guys after all. Maybe raise a CR or something, if your party relies on those magics. (I believe Paladins and Clerics would be hurt the most by this)

What is the standard ability score set? Are most games playing too high?

This can be fun as one shots, but I don't buy it over the stretch of 20 levels. Its one thing to purposefully gimp yourself with a point buy, because you buy into the weaknesses when you place the points, but its quite another to just roll badly. While this may be fun to explore on the short...

Save My Game - Goes off like a bomb!

Also makes a horrible riddle. Just ask Gollum. "Whats its gots in its pocketess? How does Precious know what it has in its stinking pocketeses?" (With apologies to Tolkien for memory-based quoting)
