Freeport Play by post--bouncing ideas around, welcome suggestions...

Steal ideas from this thread. It's modern, but lots of ideas can be DnDized. http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=353366

OOTS 487: Their Concierge Service is Heavenly

I think that you are right, they aren't allowed to convert them. Never, ever. Weird.

Should I allow this magic item (e.g. Is it broken)?

Very cool. And you can always put the pressure on the PC's by having that orc or troll or whatever start to hit that alarm gong. It can be balanced with tactics.

    Cool add-ons for my minions?

Potion of haste, and any potion that gives AC.

    Why do you choose D&D?

    Change of pace.

Should I allow this magic item (e.g. Is it broken)?

Is it broken? No. It's only minor wounds. And it fits in.

Making adventurers poorer without affecting overall power

    1) Put in combos. Two +1 shorts words can be combined to form a +2 short sword. 2) Or this +1 dagger has an odd fragment of a map on it. 3) Or synergy. A +1 dagger of Vexium plus a +1 cloak of Vexium equals +2 for both, and maybe a little something, like once per day you can do spell X...

    Elements of a realistic campaign

Realism? Hmmmm... Outlaw such monsters as Flumphs, Giant Space Hamsters, Owlphants, Stench Kow (unless you like skunky cows), hippomen, bowlers, Biclops, senmurv (unless the PC's are color blind), Flail Snail, wolf in sheep's clothing (although I have a soft spot for anything with bunnies)...

    101 Magic Items nobody needs.

    capping D&D at 5th level?

Your right. House Cats should have a higher CR. Yes, but with the rules as written, Cerberus was CR20+ in the Manual of the Planes I think... thus Herc would need to be epic level, not fifth level. Yes, but we are estimating what level an ordinary human and heroes are in DnD that faces...

    Lord Voldemort

What would YOUR World of Darkness look like?

Old World of Darkness. But updated to today's tech and events, and the Virtual Adepts and the Sons of Ether going transhumanist as their world view. Skull and Bones, Iraq museum stuff looted... artifacts from the dawn of time. Stuff Saddam Hussein was doing... Normals getting more...

What Is Your Adventuring Groups Name?

Lots of good name. Here's what we used... (some overlap with others) Exterminators... A vigilante super hero group. Membership: Knight of the Magnum (a multipower OAF energy projector (optimized for long range combat... explosions and the like), White Bow, Crusader, Power Fist (brick), and...

    What's a 15th level Githyanki to do...?

Very nice. Nah, keep the cap. This will challenge your skill as a DM. Use the above tactics and you will challenge your PC's if they get sloppy...
