WotC D&D Hiring New Game Designer Months After Firing Many

Right. Before posting this. Being branded a hot head and slagging previous employers... not the best career move.

WotC D&D Hiring New Game Designer Months After Firing Many

Talk about career suicide! That's a social media post that might follow that fella around for a while. Posting in anger... no good comes of that. Sort of like being out after 2 am... it might feel good in the moment, but you'll be paying the piper later. Having been a part of many layoffs...

    D&D 5E (2014) Softening Concentration

Wasn't there a similar mechanic at some point during the 2014 playtest? I was sad when it didn't appear in the final publication.

Artificer???!!!??? Cool... where was this announced?

    D&D 5E (2024) You're not planning on getting 2024 D&D? Why is that?

Hey @Micah Sweet! I hope you know I'm poking fun in a brotherly way at your love of Level Up! It does look like an interesting system... I've posted before that I've scanned it and it looks interesting... a bit too expensive to ship to my neck of the woods though.

D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Players Handbook: Cleric rules are culturally inclusive

I guess Sophia counted as a Golden Girl too. My bad.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Player's Handbook Reviews

I haven't been keeping my finger on the pulse of the next release, so maybe I'm missing something. Didn't I read that the new Ranger was a step back in many ways from the Tasha's Ranger (which was a massive improvement on the base 5E Ranger... IMO at least)?

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Player's Handbook Reviews

Nice! Do you have examples of how that works out in actual play for you? I like the concept, but I'm not always sure that the route I've taken with this in the past is the best one.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Player's Handbook Reviews

At least 50%* of their posts reference Level Up. I did have a look at the system. I did like what I saw, a lot. It did seem to address some of the gaps/shortcomings of 5E IMO. Cost to ship to Canada, though... no thanks. * Might be some hyperbole on my part... but not much!

I can't even imagine how wound up @Micah Sweet and @Corinnguard are by this post! A potential recruit! ;) :)

WotC WotC Removes Digital Content Team Credits From D&D Beyond

But this is how every interview process out there works though right? A resume comes in, has accomplishments and job experience on it. The verification process is to call a reference or, even better, find someone who has worked with this person and get the lay of the land. The only sound...

This is a top corner own goal of the highest quality. This, I agree with.

That's unfortunate. The US employment system has unappealing aspects to it which I can't speak about due to rules on this forum. If you are looking for a job in Canada though, hit me up.

WotC WotC Removes Digital Content Team Credits From D&D Beyond

When someone contacts me about a QA tester that I thought was amazing (which happens fairly frequently actually), it's because that tester contacted them for a job. I will be contacted either because the applicant has listed me as a direct reference or because I came up on a LinkedIn search or...

WotC WotC Removes Digital Content Team Credits From D&D Beyond

Let me phrase this in a different way. There is no one, 'among the best in their field', who fits your criteria. If you are good, your manager will know it. Your co-workers will know it. They will spread the word. That's how it works. If that is not happening for someone, they are not 'among the...

WotC WotC Removes Digital Content Team Credits From D&D Beyond

So no one knows about these paragons besides the select few who sit alongside them? Not their co-workers, who interact with other co-workers? Not members of other teams, who interact with their own team members? Not their managers, who speak with other managers? No one at all? As my kids would...

What? They are used to demonstrate your skills. Not in question by me, at any point in this conversation. I'm saying that your reputation and people skills are at least as important though.

I didn't say social skills trumped technical ones. They're both important. Why do you keep bringing that up?
