D&D General Todd Kenreck Let Go from WotC

Okay? Are you trying to hurt my feelings? Can't oblige you I'm afraid. Not sure where this itch in your bum is coming from. Maybe take a step back?

D&D General Todd Kenreck Let Go from WotC

Mansplained? Hilarious. Good people get taken advantage of all the time. Sometimes a reminder that this doesn't have to be the case is helpful. Sometimes it's not. Either way, not something you need concern yourself over.

D&D General Todd Kenreck Let Go from WotC

They want your expertise and to increase your workload, with the teaser of a 30% haircut to your pay? Renegotiate. You should not be agreeing to that. If you feel like it would take a while to find something else in your field, give it a shot anyway. After that, whatever the outcome of the...

D&D General Todd Kenreck Let Go from WotC

I am generally closer to the 'side' your espousing in these discussions. In your case, you seem to have taken it a step further and are now arguing based on your 'feels' instead of looking at facts.

D&D General Todd Kenreck Let Go from WotC

I wouldn't call it fearmongering. A business is all about maximising profits: increase revenue, reduce costs. Writing modules has a bit of paint-by-numbers to it. Will an AI-generated module be incredibly innovative? Maybe not. Will it be good enough to sell? Realistically, yes. You'd need (in...

D&D General Todd Kenreck Let Go from WotC

Okay. Sounds like the point you were trying to make was that there is some heavy duty churn happening at WotC, and we should discuss what the fallout of that is? I'm down with that.

D&D General Todd Kenreck Let Go from WotC

Bloodbath is a bit of a strong word. Layoffs are part of being a member of the work force. Look for a new job and move on. It's not a fun experience, at all, and I wish this person well. I've been through it, several times. Wishing him well and offering support are what he needs. If you know of...

What Do You Call This Popular Beverage?

Are any of the options in this poll used outside of the US? In Canada, I've only ever heard the term 'soft drink'.

Oh well... there goes that glimmer of hope. Still buying it though!

    D&D 5E (2014) Solasta 2 Announced!!!

I watched only a couple minutes of their demo, but the dialogue there was markedly better than in the first game. Small sample size and all that, but a positive sign nonetheless.

    D&D 5E (2014) Solasta 2 Announced!!!

I'd never heard of it, so just looked it up. Seems like the consensus was amazing game, but the English localisation of this JRPG was somewhat lacking... sound about right?

    D&D 5E (2014) Solasta 2 Announced!!!

I much prefer a game to have a great story and dialogue, but we're not going to get that every time. So I'll play games where those components are a little B-tier, no problem. The original Solasta though... it's like they grabbed a pack of 11 year olds, paid them in Doritos and ice cream...

    D&D 5E (2014) Solasta 2 Announced!!!

I don't need BG3 either. The first game though... I can't think of another CRPG that had that amateurish an attempt at story or dialogue. Wow. It's a testament to how incredible the combat system was that: a) I finished the first game b) am champing at the bit to buy the second one!

    D&D 5E (2014) Solasta 2 Announced!!!

Just watched a couple of minutes myself. The dialogue and interactions with the NPCs and the game world already look 1000 times improved from the first game.

Upcoming AAA/AA CRPGs or story-based RPGs (updated 15/04/2025)

All three were great, but I would say that Wrath of the Righteous was the standout among them.
