Picking 2 out of 264 spells

Magic missile and simulacrum. MM is reasonably useful for nearly any character. Simulacrum lets you break the game. The chance of getting to use simulacrum optimally is probably low, but it you do then it’s the best.

    D&D 5E (2014) Capturing Souls

That's not really what sequester does, it puts a (willing) creature in suspended animation and hides it away. AFAIK the gemstone trapping is part of imprisonment in 5e?

    D&D 5E (2014) Capturing Souls

Devourer in VgtM has a soul-eating ability. Also hexblade in XgtE gets the accursed specter ability

    Allowing Vicious Mockery via telepathy

I would allow telepathy to meet the requirement that the target can hear you. But the spell still has a verbal component so I'd require you to speak for that (unless you used subtle spell).

    Warforged- change Integrated Protection

I think it makes more sense to have different subraces with different types of integral armor. Being able to change it out is weird to me.

    Sanctuary plus Spirit Guardians?

Would you end sanctuary then if the caster insults and nonmagically goads an opponent? If you would, would you require a save if a character tried to verbally goad a creature protected by sanctuary?

    A TWF revision?

I agree that works well too, but I feel like it gives too many attacks now, hate to feel like it is clogging up the game. I feel like 1-2 extra attacks is the sweet spot I like.

    A TWF revision?

That is certainly defensible. It lacks the feel of actual TWFing because you can't split your attacks, but maybe I should just give up on that.

    A TWF revision?

    Here's how I would estimate the damage, with the appropriate fighting style Level 1 (18 stat): 2H = 12.3 (7 base + 4 state + 1.3 GWS) TWF = 15 (7 base + 4 stat + 4 TWFS) Level 5 (20 stat): 2H = 26.7 TWF = 25.5 Level 11: 2H = 40 TWF = 34 Level 20: 2H = 53.3 TWF = 42.5 I'd expect TWF to lag...

    Sanctuary plus Spirit Guardians?

Is it any different if you are standing still, and a creature walks into your spirit guardian area? How about if you have fire shield active and someone attacks you?

    A TWF revision?

My thought was to use the feat to eliminate the bonus action requirement. I'm afraid that simply eliminating it across the board would be too useful for rogues. 2H fighting in general, or dueling style as you note.

D&D 5E (2014) Light Character Classes for Monsters

Seems pretty decent. How did you decide on XP adjustments?

    A TWF revision?

I've been working on tweaking up a sort of personal 5.1 edition, with houserule fixes for the things that bug me. One of those is the TWF rules; I know that I am not alone in this. Here are things I don't like: - Unlike other styles, a TWF fighter must use their bonus action every round to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

To pick another nit: Grim Harvest doesn't work with cantrips.

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

Might add too, hypnotic gaze requires your opponent to see or hear you, but not both. So it is totally usable while invisible, and does not break invisibility. That can help a bit with the 5 ft range.

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

That's a bit off, you do have to spend your action each turn to maintain it.

D&D 5E (2014) Spell Slot Powered Abilities. Are they spells?

The sage advice compendium specifies that any ability powered by spell slots is magical. Nothing about radiant damage being inherently magical.

Is Awakened Mind a psionic ability?

AFAIK a ability is considered psionic only if it is labeled psionic. Awakened Mind is not.

D&D 5E (2014) Spell Slot Powered Abilities. Are they spells?

So what would I be inclined to block? Leaving aside the RAW, just thinking about house rules I wouldn't object to. I can definitely see preventing a raging barbarian from using primeval awareness. Not sure about a wildshaped druid smiting. A smiting bite? Biting smite? Maybe. I'm kind of...
