Does your setting have Magic Shops

In my game the "Church of Magic" has a monopoly on magic item sales.

    An assassin's motives.

I think the most interesting part of a character or organization to focus on would be assasination as an alternative to war.

    An assassin's motives.

I do not murder. I do not execute. I do not massacre. I never torture. I have no truck with crimes of passion or hatred or pointless gain. I do not do it to delight in death, this does not fill some secret inner need, this is not about petty advantage or some cause or belief. I offer a...

Purposely NOT filling the four roles

My group right now is a Bard, a Wizard, a Ranger, a Druid, and a Monk. We do ok, healing is handled with a wand weilded by the druid, and traps are just stumbled into.

Suspension of Disbelief stretched to the breaking point in the World of Darkness

I think this is the best advice I've seen in a thread like this. Well done!

Suspension of Disbelief stretched to the breaking point in the World of Darkness

That sounds remarkably like the movie Cube. The rooms move around and everything!

Have You Introduced New People to RPGs?

At the moment I'm DMing for a whole group of people who are new to the game.

    Should the players always win?

I voted yes. However I don't think the PCs need to "win" every encounter but I do think it's important that at the end of the day the players felt like they had fun. I don't think it's fun to -always- win, but it's easy to have fun when your winning. It takes more skill (one that I need much...

    The all mighty box text

I don't use box text as written. I highlight the important features I want to mention, and then scan my eyes over the book as I'm describing the room. What I would really love is the important things to note in bullet point form. Just the key things I need to know about the room, and then I...

Help fill my haunted house with cool encounters.

Hi everyone. I've been thinking it might be cool for my players to own a piece of property in the city they are in now. I'm leaning towards using the map to "the shadow house" from wizard's map-a-week thing. I think it would make a pretty awesome base of operations! They are a second level...

Monk - what do you like and dislike?

I think I'm going to use monks as thief-takers run by the "Church of Law".

    Adventure ideas inside a city!

I love the haunted house idea. I'll have to find some good spooks for second level guys! The PCs witness an attempted murder, and they are asked to find the killer, and to testify against him.

    A world without gods.

I think I need to pick a few domains to be "dominant" churches that people belong to. The Church of Law seems like an important one for civilization. They could be the judge / jury and executioner. Or even run things like the city watch or something? I do like the idea of naming some things...

    A world without gods.

So I've started a new game in a homebrew world, and I'm really designing with a "I'll make it up when I need to" sort of basis. As none of my PCs decided to play a religious class..I haven't really had to think about the gods of my world too much. Then last night I had an idea. What if...

    Adventure ideas inside a city!

So I've just got my group of noob PCs into a moderately sized city for the first time. They are all second level, and so far we've gone through a dungeon crawl, and a little bit of wilderness adventure. Now that we are in a city, what are some fun plot hooks and adventure ideas to throw out to...

    A Bloody Little Tale

Hey. I just though I'd let you guys know my posting might be a little sporatic over the next little while. I've left home and gone visiting the parents for Christmas.

    Maddgoth’s Castle (restart?)

My posting may be a little more sporatic for the next little while too... (not that I've said much lately as there wasn't much choice in what Erik would do dangling from a roper ;) )

    A "character driven" FR campaign.

Just to let you all know, my posting might be a tad sporatic for the next week and a bit. I've left home, and am now visiting my parents out of town. Luckily for me they are very technologically inclined people, and computer access isn't a problem, just finding the time to sit down at one...

    A "character driven" FR campaign.

She absolutely can investigate it. As I understand it, here whole shtick is learning things and being knowledgable. All I'm saying is there is no reason (yet?) to believe Nicos isn't a reliable source of information on Retsilah.

    A "character driven" FR campaign.

If it was a fairly powerful wizard from waterdeep, then I would say hell yes. This is a fairly powerful wizard, but he is one from halfway around the world who came from all the way around the world (according the Nicos...) I don't think Medowbrook would consider herself so knowledgable as to...
