Greetings. Not D&D - Looking for a writer for science fiction-fantasy RPG.

Still doesn't address that $.02 a word was substandard pay two decades ago.

Greetings. Not D&D - Looking for a writer for science fiction-fantasy RPG.

When you read about .02 a word it's typically in the context of it being absolute robbery. That is a totally abysmal rate. $250 to learn a new game and write 10,000 words? I assume since these are "modules" that will also require pacing, game stats, marrying events up to the mechanics. Even at...

    Realism vs playability?

I don't care about realism in RPGs, at all. The best way I can describe the kind of games I like is they are fiction simulators...So all I care about is if the rules support the style of play I'm looking for.

No Ghost in the Shell rpg?

It wasn't GitS but there was this: Dominion Tank Police

No Ghost in the Shell rpg?

Cyberpunk 2020 has many of the tropes of Ghost in the Shell and Appleseed, and later books showed direct influences from the GitS manga. You can do GitS pretty much as-is in CP2020 and many have. In fact with Datafortress 2020 most of the work has been done for you.

How many fantasy worlds are there anyways? Post one.

Vimary is Montreal. There wasn't a d20 "version" so much as conversion notes in the second edition. We are currently working on a Forged in the Dark version. The playtest is available on DTRPG through DP9's page.

What's the appeal of digest-sized products?

To me they're easier to read (and I'm 52) and easier to handle in general, as well as fit better in my backpack. They also fit on my bookshelf just fine. I started to prefer digest format when Fate Core was published, about eight years ago. EDIT: Oh and I own at least 15 digest-sized books...

    Mass effect RPG?

Somebody did a Cortex Prime Mass Effect build:

    Favored dice mechanic.

I prefer dice pools to single dice. What dice they are doesn't matter—all d6, all d10, Fate dice, a mix of sizes. I just don't like flat distributions.

What is your favorite zero-prep game for ongoing campaigns.

Blades in the Dark (or nearly any Forged in the Dark game). Current prep: a clock and half a sentence.

Which game engine suits this best?

That's going to be rough. Because R20 doesn't do good with dice pools. There is a Discord bot for Cortex called CortexPal2000. There's also Fari.app.

Ideas for disparate character power levels

Everything in Smallville (and MHR) is in Cortex Prime, so Cortex Prime does it well too. But even MHR balanced super-powered versus not super-powered similarly even if the traits weren't the same. It doesn't matter if something is a d12 Super Punch or a d12 Disapproving Look, they're both d12s...

Which game engine suits this best?

When you buy the Prime core book, you get access to the Codex which contains the rules for the challenge mod.

Ideas for disparate character power levels

Cortex Prime was practically built for this. The underpinnings that allow Superman and Lois Lane to be in the same scenes in Smallville, or any number of disparate superheroes in Marvel Heroic, are in Cortex Prime.

How many fantasy worlds are there anyways? Post one.

Vimary, the setting for Tribe 8. Yes, it's "post apocalyptic" but it's pretty much low/dark fantasy. The apocalypse and the remnants are a backdrop. Xadia, from Tales of Xadia and the Dragon Prince. Earth, from Avatar Legends (it's not our Earth). Duskvol, from Blades in the Dark. The...

Which game engine suits this best?

Gonna third Cortex Prime. Fate could do it too but Cortex has edged Fate out as my first preference.

Where do publishers get maps? And more map questions!

Were the conditions for your exclusive use? The artist should have specified this when you contracted them. In other words if they were a professional, this shouldn't have been a surprise.

Where do publishers get maps? And more map questions!

There is a forum for map makers: Cartographers' Guild - a community for maps of fantasy, sci-fi and real world locations

Unwritten DMing rules: the use of dice

Nope. Nope Nope. I don't ever have any results that I can't show to the players, so this isn't an issue.
