    Lanya (new PC)

This is just my brainstorming for a posssible PC for the game IIsi50Mhz is planning to run on AOL chat. (See his thread here.) I thought I'd post it and see what suggestions y'all might offer for improvement or which way to go in deciding between cleric, wizard, and druid...

    Chronomancer/Lich's Time Tower - ideas?

There should be an intelligent guardian construct before door #1. Trap #1: On passing through this portal, time rewinds 10 minutes. Any items collected disappear, creatures slain are back, and the PCs are "teleported away" to wherever they were standing 10 minutes ago (don't tell them they...

[Oriental Adventures] Need help! Vymair, stay out!

Glad I could help. Obviously, the story was inspired by the story that when the Buddha reached enlightenment, he could have ascended to Nirvana, but instead chose to remain behind to try to help others reach Nirvana as well. . . . . . . . -- Eric PS -- I am not a Buddhist. Any...

[Oriental Adventures] Need help! Vymair, stay out!

Duong Le Li searched for many years to find enlightenment. He walked to the river, where he meditated for many days, taking nothing but water, but when he walked away, he left it behind him. He studied many scrolls, but his learning gave him nothing. He sat among the aescetics, and moved not...

    Summon: Heroic Adventurers

I had a similar idea that I haven't actually used yet. In my version, the summoner conceals his identity, is ambiguously good / evil, and most importantly, mostly occurs off screen. It was intended as an in-game device for explaining the 'disappearance' of PCs when the players were absent...

    Underused skills

You nailed it exactly, Doctor R. In particular the comment about "the circumstances of the check [...] under the DM's control." Basically, I'm looking for ways to prompt the PCs to use these skills, and haven't found that the classic uses tend to come up in a non-contrived way (i.e. many doors...

    Underused skills

In my Rokugan campaign, I been thinking that there are several skills that people have invested in that I think are underused. I'd love to hear any ideas people have for situations which would prompt my PCs to roll on the following skills: Appraise, Balance, Decipher Script, Escape Artist...

"Swarm, my minions! Rip and peck them to pieces!"

At which point the enemy druid breathes a sigh of relief at not being the target of that fireball. (Or next time he sends his swarm of weasels to "distract" the mages. Continuous damage, yay!) . . . . . . . -- Eric

"Swarm, my minions! Rip and peck them to pieces!"

Hate to be a downer, but... wouldn't your eagles need FlyBy Attack? Otherwise, you max out the # of attackers per opponent fairly quickly. (Then again, 8 per PC is probably still pretty effective.) . . . . . . . -- Eric

    Newbie DM desprately need help

Interesting that people are trying to change your original idea... I found it very clever. I might even steal it someday. :) The goblins are gullible, and the imp is manipulating them. He convinced them that they have begun turning into vampires, but if they drink the "potions" he is...

Psychic Warrior in Scarred Lands? Ideas?

Re: i sense.... confusion I'm running the risk of reading too much into things here, but from reading the thread I'm coming away with the impression that Scarred Lands use the "Psionics is different" option from PsiHB. If so, anti-magic of any type does not affect psionics. This would also...

    Aramis, Jesuits, and Swashbuckling Adventures

Do they not have somehting similar to Castillian Education? If they do, it would be appropriate to allow churchmen to take it, as the Castillian Education is intended to reflect the world class education provided by the church schools. Other possible feats or class abilities: immunity to...

Total Party Kill -- How do you recover?

My group's play contract includes fudging to avoid this, so I have not yet had a TPK. In general, though, for a story-based game I suggest having a new group stumble acrosss evidence of the party's original purpose and the fact of their death. Additional evidence gathering is required to find...

    Houston Games?

Hey Doce. After checking with my DM, our Sunday group has an opening. The campaign is Realms based, with the premise that epic level events are happening in the background, but the PCs are not at the "save the world" level. Instead, they are trying to pull their weight and be heroes in a...

    Broken will

Two common responses to trauma are hypersentivity or distancing. Sounds like the player is going with distancing. You might emphasize the fact the the PC is no longer as perceptive about when he is hurting people, since from his perspective, they are hyper-sensitive. His handshakes may be...

    Rokugan or OA

No, you don't have to have OA to run in Rokugan; they intentionally reprinted the main classes (samurai & shugenja). It helps and gives more options, and there may be some specialized rules explanations missing without OA (i.e. I don't recall seeing Iaijutsu rules repeated), but in general it...

    BADD to the Bone

Make use of the dragon's range and mobility. Don't forget that the flying maneuverability class does not affect the jump skill, and reds get a bunch of free ranks in Jump. Negate the PCs mutliple attacks and reduce the value of haste spells by using the "pop up, blast, drop prone as free...

Ah, fame and fortune are mine at last! Yes, I've been around RPG.Net for more than a couple years, but like here, my posting volume is low enough that people rarely remember me. :) . . . . . . . -- Eric

Guess I'm going to have to get Morrus to change my title before people believe I'm a community supporter, eh? :) Is this "typo" intentional? It's rather amusing. . . . . . . . -- Eric
