    Rope Trick: any advances?

At levels where forbiddance is common, most adventurers keep all there gear in such containers. Since forbiddance is permanent, useful* and covers a significant area, some PC's (and their opponents) can spend large amounts of time in them. It can be a huge pain for the DM and players to remember...

Should you be able to dodge a fireball by readying an action?

Actually, I was approaching it from the perspective that the target dodged the first fireball, and the wizard speculating that the target was going to try the same trick again.

Should you be able to dodge a fireball by readying an action?

It occurs to me that if the wizard notices that his target is likely readying an action to move out of the area of a fireball, then the wizard could instead move and ready an action to cast fireball when his target next moves. On the target's next turn, he will likely move before readying his...

    Most powerful feat ever?

Agreed. I also like Craft Wondrous Item: basically burn one level worth of XP (which you eventually get back) to say, give you and your party an extra 125,000 gp worth of gear. Since gear isn't used when calculating CR, you continue levelling much more easily.

    Sneak attack and scorching ray?

Yup, the Complete Arcane covers this. It can also be found in the Rules of the Game if desired: "Volley Type Attacks Sometimes, you make multiple attacks with the same attack roll, such as when you use the Manyshot feat, or you make multiple attack rolls as part of the same attack, such as with...

Should you be able to dodge a fireball by readying an action?

I don't believe that's going to be a universal truism in regard to readied actions. Indeed, taking this literally for all readied actions could lead to problems.

Should you be able to dodge a fireball by readying an action?

Can't the same be said for regular ranged attacks (i.e. they are instantaneous)? Yet we could still make decisions (even without a readied action) after they are thrown on whether to say, snatch or deflect them. I think the ready action is simply subject to a lot of interpretation and DM...

    Anti Caster Melee tactics

Summonned Monster and Quickened Time Stop query

From the rules: "A summoning spell instantly brings a creature or object to a place you designate. When the spell ends or is dispelled, a summoned creature is instantly sent back to where it came from" From the 3.0 FAQ: "Summoned creatures aren’t really present; they dissolve at their original...

Should you be able to dodge a fireball by readying an action?

Isn't the flight path of arrows similarly instantaneous in D&D (even at say, over 1000' away)? Would you allow a player to ready an action to duck behind cover if an arrow is launched?

Should you be able to dodge a fireball by readying an action?

I don't believe most of us assume the underlined part. In a fantasy game? Heck yeah. Magic missiles are kinda like heat seekers... stepping aside may not help.

Should you be able to dodge a fireball by readying an action?

It occurs to me that (in the movies) people jump in front of bullets and arrows all the time. In my games, if someone wants to do this I tell them to ready an action to move (into the way of a flight path). Since a readied action can interrupt another action at pretty much any point, this is not...

Summonned Monster and Quickened Time Stop query

Having summoned creature dissolve at their original location and formed at your location during a time stop seems to go against the paradigm that other creatures cannot be affected during a timestop. Theoretically this would work similarly with [Calling] spells, which could open another can of...

    Rope Trick: any advances?

That is a reasonable interpretation, especially since the 3.5 FAQ says: "Can I teleport into or out of an extradimensional space, such as that created by Mordenkainen’s magnificent mansion or a portable hole? No. Such spaces are considered to be on another plane, and thus can’t be reached by...

Summonned Monster and Quickened Time Stop query

If they appeared during the time stop, then the rules seem to imply that the duration clock starts immediately (i.e. before the time stop ends): "A spell that affects an area and has a duration longer than the remaining duration of the time stop have their normal effects on other creatures once...

    Rope Trick: any advances?

That is subject to interpretation (and lots of debates... I can provide links to them if you desire), so both interpretations have merit. However, WotC customer service has said (here) that nondetection protects you from see invisible. That's enough of a tie breaker for me (even though I...

Cast Nondetection on the Rope trick opening. There is always the portable hole + Mirror of Mental Prowess option mentioned here.

    Portable Hole Question

From the Rules of the Game: "The rope trick spell description makes a passing mention of "hazards" associated with placing one extradimensional space inside another, but gives no details. (See the rope trick excerpt.) I recommend that you ignore this reference. Your campaign won't be improved...

Earthen Grasp and Black Tentacles question

No for black tentacles, since they don't make attack rolls. From the 3.5 FAQ: "The spell actually works something like an entangle spell that’s capable of dealing bludgeoning damage. The spell uses an opposed grapple check instead of a saving throw to determine if creatures within its spread are...
