Note to WotC: They're not TRPGs. They're just RPGs.

Yeah, I feel the same when people refer to "British English". It's simply "English"!

    Best simple purchase you've made

Well, I wouldn't say that this item has improved my life by a significant amount, but it is something that I ended up using far more than I thought I would - a Mobi wifi SD card for my camera. I like to do a bit of photography, and have a DSLR and a few lenses. I also like to post my photos to...

    Gay Rights

Something you may not have considered - not all Western democracies have separation of Church and State. In the UK, 26 Church of England archbishops and bishops are appointed to sit in the House of Lords.

    Elite: Dangerous?

I backed the Kickstarter, but just haven't had time to do anything but the first training mission. I mainly bought it because I loved the original on the BBC micro.

What aspect of geek culture does not resonate with you?

Cosplay, superhero comics, action figures. They just don't light my fire.

That's how we do it up North - none of your pork pie nannies! Yes.

Is authenticity important for you when eating ethnic/regional food?

I'm not too worried, but I'm quite interested to know whether something is authentic. On a slight tangent, I am slightly saddened that Newcastle Brown Ale is no longer made in Newcastle, or even in the region.

Is authenticity important for you when eating ethnic/regional food?

I admit that I've never made one, but this is likely to be a proper British scone, as baked by the great Delia Smith: http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/cuisine/european/english/plain-scones.html

Wherein we ask each other dialect questions we don't quite understand

Last summer, I enjoyed taking an American (that I know from Circvs Maximvs) to a local restaurant: http://www.thebroadchare.co.uk/proper-food/ He's quite a foodie, and said that it was the best meal he had on his vacation here (he only spent one night in Newcastle, and the rest up in Scotland...

Wherein we ask each other dialect questions we don't quite understand

Tripadvisor should give you some good pointers. When I go to London I don't tend to eat anywhere special, because I can eat fantastic food here for half the price. The one place that stands out is Kopapa, which is right in the West End - we had a lovely brunch there.

Can't say I remember any of our Indian contractors saying that, so I can't help you. The one that sticks in my mind is "do the needful" - any idea where that comes from?

No, British scones are... Coincidentally, I had afternoon tea on Saturday, and the scones were delicious :)

Similarly, the University of London is composed several Colleges - e.g. Imperial College, Kings College, University College. So, I would say that I was going to college, but most of my friends, going to other establishments around the country, would say that they were going to university.

Anyone else mark the monster population ON a copy of the dungeon map when preparing?

No, but I was thinking about doing exactly the same thing for U1, which I'm converting for 5e.

    All the Nazi bombs!

I recognise one of those locations (from when I was at college) - you can still see the shrapnel marks in the stone wall on the opposite side of the street.

    where to buy in Europe?

Orcs Nest is a good call, as it has the advantage of being in the centre of London. I would also suggest that Leisure Games is even better - although it is about 45 minutes out from the centre.

Eberron's Keith Baker Launches PHOENIX: DAWN COMMAND Card Based RPG

My brain just picked out PHOENIX and COMMAND, and I opened the thread thinking this was going to be about small-scale modern day combat with exceedingly detailed rules! ;)
