Where did my options go? - The New Paradigm

You could wear it but you couldnt cast in it. :) Taking armor on and off was also a no no in combat even back then.

    Dragonborn, Wintertouched & Lasting Frost

Treat the first as Icy and difficult terrain as described in DMG pg 66. Require an acrobatics check or loose your balance (prone), x2 for all movement cost. I would rule that the breath weapon has a depth range equal to its normal area of effect. I looked for some RAW but havent found a...

Where did my options go? - The New Paradigm

Reynard, I dont want to come across as confrontational here, but I cant stress how wrong that paragraph is. I respect your opinion but as stated just above me, current sales numbers prove you wrong in so many ways. The culture of D&D has always been about friends, dice, and snacking till you...

My take on it all. (A Rant of sorts, feel free to ignore)

Cinematic, kinda, but that really has more to do with roleplay during combat than anything else. Tactically challenging, oh yeah. "Bags" of HP...no, but if you mean they have a range thats appropriate to accomodate an actual battle feel rather than a one hit wonder fest in the first few...

Where did my options go? - The New Paradigm

Kvantum, Im reposting what I wrote in another thread but it kinda answeres that chainmail question... "I cant wait for the 6th edition people to keep arguing with the 7th edition people about how its not D&D anymore, and all the "Old school" 4th edition people talk about playing with the guys...

    D&D 4E 4e and save or dies.

I cant wait for the 6th edition people to keep arguing with the 7th edition people about how its not D&D anymore, and all the "Old school" 4th edition people talk about playing with the guys who came back to 4th Ed D&D from the days of playing Basic/Expert D&D. Then we can read all the...

My take on it all. (A Rant of sorts, feel free to ignore)

On the contrary, the whole army thing doesnt work unless you remove drow nature, their history, their culture, their belief and value system (the same could be said in varying ways for other powerful humanoid like examples). Inevitably, you run into that age old caveat "Power corrupts". The...

My take on it all. (A Rant of sorts, feel free to ignore)

Bean, the idea of level value in monsters has always been there, in every edition. Its as much a part of D&D as anything. I would argue that 4th actually takes a step in the direction of allowing downgrades in a number of areas. But there are gonna be certain creatures that have innate...

    D&D 4E Another Review of 4e

Handful? I certainly wouldnt use that word, and I only own a good 2/3 of the splats out there for 3.5. 3.5 is a veritable smorgasbord of options, a clutter of awesome, ok, and "WTH?" abilities that are certainly not all reasonable for every campaign. Its a houserule festival...or...

    D&D 4E New Collaborative File-Sharing Site for 4E Goodness

Sunspot, I like the style of your cards, could I get the MSE files so I can modify them. I would like to make some cards to track Some Racial Powers and I want all the cards to match in format. Thanks!

    D&D 4E Another Review of 4e

A quick question about this statement. Are you saying you prefer to have 30 choices, of which 4 are really playably efficient options that require a hard choice, or 10 choices, of which 6-8 are playably efficient options that require hard choices? Im not using specific numbers for a reason...

    Poisons? You're kidding right?

This. The weakened effect for 1 or 2 turns of the die, 3 if your real lucky, is going to have significant impact. If you want to go hardcore, then go hardcore. Jack the dmg to 20, 25, even 30, and drop a -5 to save on the recipient. If you want to keep balance, but introduce greater potency...

    D&D 4E Everyone's a swordsage; Thoughts on 4E after my first read-through.

The interesting question is not whether 4th is D&D (because regardless of what we here might say, its quite frankly, D&D). The question that interests me is, where do you draw the line, and by you I mean you all in general? Woodgrain/White box? Greyhawk, Blackmoor, Eldritch Wizardry...

What's the scoop on pregen characters for Worldwide Game Day 2008?

Well KotS did have both flavors so I can see them introducing some different combos. Im actually curious about the two fighter thing though. If they are smart the two will be engineered different to show off a couple of different build styles for play value. Seeing two fighters in action...

    So...anything on Craft?

Its been said before, and its still a good point. Professions are one of those roleplaying elements that while it might be nice to have a generic system for, its best left up to the DM to color the specifics. I would rather use my own and not have to compete with WotC's ideas about crafts, and...

    Craft/Profession

You know, after reading all that I expected alot more from just about all of you...in other words...I was interested in what you were bringing to the dinner table so to speak, and not all the :):):) for tat regarding what amounts to the most obvious house rule of house rules. My system has been...

KOTS, NPC encounter power help? :)

Agreed, and unless there is a reason stated against such a house rule I would go with that. There very well may be other miss save type effects or damage. The idea behind the ability is that they are more resistant to effects so a free save with no side effects would be how I would run it. MM

    Inspiring Word House Rule

The only problem I have with the temporary HP thing is that temp HP doesnt stack. Being very used to the old school ideas regarding HP, I was actually having a minor issue with the whole Warlords having an impact on HP like clerics question myself till a conversation between two of my friends...
