    If Hasbro Pulls the Plug....

The OGL was enacted a year after Hasbro acquired TSR. Pretty sure they were aware of it before it went into effect and could have stopped if they so chose.
  2. The Little Raven

    Dragon magazine

I may have misunderstood you. I thought you were referring to the original individual article, not the compilation. Basically, I thought it was a "They shouldn't put out the article until it is perfect" statement. My bad.

Have the Damage Expressions from Page 42 Been Updated?

Nope, but the errata does. The DM's book gives you tools for creating adventures and encounters, but not for creating monsters or traps or anything else. I sent you an email with a monster creation summary I put together back in mid-2010.
  4. The Little Raven

    Dragon magazine

Technically, this is impossible, since errata is dependent upon something being released and then corrected after the fact. Plus, their errata comes from feedback from us, so they couldn't get it without releasing it to us.

    January Dragon & Dungeon Content

A number of the Dragon articles sound like they're for DMs, and should therefore be Dungeon articles. From the descriptions, the Eye on Eberron and Dark Sun articles sound more like fluff with some NPCs attached than something player-focused. Did they change the player/DM Dragon/Dungeon split again?

Have the Damage Expressions from Page 42 Been Updated?

While these fine gentlepeople have given you the info, the official source is in the D&D Essentials DM Kit's book on page 108.

    Eladrin, why?

In a number of the inspirational materials, when one is of half-blood, one usually takes after one parent or another. For instance, Elrond and his brother were both half-elves, and Elrond chose to be elfy and his brother chose to be humany, and each effectively had the traits of the chosen...

    The Binder is fixed!

I disagree. They made some substantial changes to classes over 2 years old last year. I think the problem (or perception thereof) is that they don't do it as quickly as we expect in the internet age.

Book of Vile Darkness (short review)

One of the arcs also casts your namesake in an important Paragon-tier role. The bolded part I don't get. I'm looking through my copy and I'm at loss to understand what formatting makes any of it hard to read. I was expecting to open it up and see White Wolf-style dark illegible fonts on dark...

My nipples are certainly thankful for that.

D&D 4E Essentials, questions from someone trying out 4e again

There's a feat called Martial Practices that grants non-magical Ritual-like abilities. One of them is a simple crafting one, and there are some ones that allow you to make basic magic armor/weapons (enhancement bonus and masterwork only). You could also make create additional ones to allow him...

    Final Fantasy style "Blue Mage"?

I'd say take the spirit of the blue mage and adapt it in a way that works to 4e's strengths, particularly because the blue mage powers weren't always identical to the monster version anyway. Off the top of my head... Controller. Lore (feature) - +5 bonus to all Monster Knowledge Checks and...

    Abjurer, a ranged defender

Here's some ideas I had when working on an Abjurer shortly after Essentials came out. I wanted my Abjurer to stick near allies, and have a marking/punishment system based on allies, rather than enemies. To this effect, I created an aura that starts at 3 squares and may get bigger at higher...

Does anybody know how well D&D has been doing?

D&D never gets mentioned by Hasbro, which makes the complaints about Hasbro messing with it all the more hilarious.

    WotC's Annual Xmas Layoffs

I would guess that it's based on what will save the company more money. Rich Baker was probably one of the more highly paid employees due to his long history with the company and his position near the top of the D&D hierarchy. Add to that the fact that the economy is still crap and some...

What old modules would you like to see converted/reimagined??

The Forgotten Temple of Tharizdun. Preferably by Mike Mearls himself, since I know he loves this adventure as much or more than I do. Desert of Desolation. The Isle of Dread. Ravenloft. Expedition to the Barrier Peaks.

    Essential Essentials

I know, right! I mean, it's like they expect us to somehow make due with the limited resources of PHB1, Martial Power, Martial Power 2 and scads of Dragon articles.
  18. The Little Raven

    Essential Essentials

How about the key characteristics that I pointed out, which coincidentally enough come straight from Wizards' own oft-repeated-verbatim marketing:
  19. The Little Raven

    The Fringes of Kara-Tur

I think that's intentional. It feels like the sohei is a way to add a little monk-flavor to a non-monk character.
  20. The Little Raven

    Essential Essentials

The Essentials line is defined by two key characteristics. 1. Evergreen. They will remain in print so long as the edition remains in print. 2. The foundation. This means that all future books will assume these are the books you have and no more (very deliberately niche books aside). Heroes of...
