(Races of Faerun] Jungle dwarf ECL?Is it different from MoF?Please help!

Yup, the wild dwarf is pretty much the same except they get a +3 vs poison instead of +1 and are small size.

A Couple Questions Regarding Playing a Melee Cleric

Agreed. I would believe such spells as rays are included under the "cast upon the wearer" group. But good point, I can see others making a point about this not being the case though...

    half-elves and subraces

half-human, half-aquatic elf. Modeled after the PHB half-el but with minor changes: favored class:any is the same, a +8 to swim checks and -1 penalty to wis-checks when too long away from sea. Incidentally the RoF is a great book and I highly recommend it. If nothing but for the winged elves...

A Couple Questions Regarding Playing a Melee Cleric

No, the ring of counterspells only works on targeted spells as in order for the ring to work the spell has to be "cast upon the wearer".

    Hellcat and grappling

You are correct Kershek, because the hellcat has a BAB +7/+2 it can attempt a grapple check twice per round as per the grapple rules. Incidentally a hellcat has 7 HD. Once in a grapple the hellcat can attack as normal with light weapons, in this case one of the hellcat's paws at +12/+7 (because...

    half-elves and subraces

the new races of faerun has a half-aquatic elf. Nothing much, just as sea elf except they have a circumstance bonus to swim and receive a small penalty to all wisdom-checks when out of sight of the ocean for too long. No level adjustment.

    Caster tactics to escape grappling

Though if the grappler IS a foolishly willing target, heh, won't the grappler be surprised when they appear several hundred feet above the ground falling, only to watch the caster wink and disappear... :D

    Grappling Problems

Ah, interesting encounter. Were the shambling mounds summoned or created? The diifficulty of six of them is such that I believe there is a reason they were made "solitary" creatures heh. Rather, those kind of encounters are the "run-away" and tell those fireside stories about the "big-ones" that...

    Caster tactics to escape grappling

Silent Spell those verbal-only dimension door and teleport spells so you don't have to make that concentration check in the grapple. Just cast it and goodbye grapple. :D

Where to spend Fighter skill points- what do you think are good skills for a fighter?

    cross-class spot/listen and SWIM. I am a strong proponent for not-sinking-while-wearing-fullplate club. :p

    Grappling Problems

Yes, you are reading it wrong. When a character is grappled with a shambling mound and they attempt a grapple check to do somekind of action (unarmed damage, break grapple, etc.) if the grapple check is lost they fail their attempt. They do not suffer damage by the opposing grappler. This...

    Grappling Problems

Before a grapple a shambling mound would make attacks as normal (damage applied), any hits activating it's improved grapple ability, and then on a successful grapple the constrict damage is applied. Once a creature is grappled by the shambling mound on a successful grapple check it ONLY does...

Point Buy vs. Die Rolling Ability Scores

Hyper- hadn't thought of Pbem (haven't tried it yet) that's very good point. Sounds real good. Souljourner- You also bring up some very good points about party balance. I see how point-buy makes the DMs job a whole heck of a lot easier in maintaining party balance in play, especially if the DM...

Point Buy vs. Die Rolling Ability Scores

I'm sorry about that. I don't think I declared any kind of randomness "good". I thought the statement that "D&D is a game of randomnly generated numbers" was just the nature of the thing. A simple fact, we are agreed on this corrrect? Goodness I hope folk don't think I'm trying to say more...

Point Buy vs. Die Rolling Ability Scores

Overblown? Ouch, that hurts. Man you didn't even look for it eh? My point, to wit: the irony of the juxtaposition of point-buy (rigid point-scale) and D&D (a game of random generation of numbers) in my post. The insult, nah I can live with that, but just missing the point, ack, my weak heart...

Point Buy vs. Die Rolling Ability Scores

Ahem, for those punks who don't like randomness and prefer the rigidity of point-buy system, why roll dice at all then? Just sit down and roll out the Ol' game mat and start moving those minis around playing chess, er a more systematic version of D&D with thousands of charts to look up and no...

Races of Faerun and Arms and Equipment Guide are out!

Pirate, argggghhh matey! *he says as men in black rush out of their black sedans and haul this thread into the car to drive away and never be seen again...* :p Does this mean that Races of Faerun can now be found in stores? Or should I plan on my small local game store not receiving it until...

    This spell too powerful?

Have the range effect be smaller and ramps with level and it'd be a bit more balanced (that and the caster being equally effected). Kind of like a wanabe anti-magic field, just for higher level spells or something hmmm...
