    Interesting data on Skill Challenges

If I recall, the mechanic behind complexity was changed in such a way that as complexity goes up, the successes needed rises, but the failure number is static.

    D&D 3.x 3E conversion question

If he is playing the rogue, why not allow him to use sly flourish but change the CHA mod to INT? As for the Damage reduction, thats hard to implement as DR is very hard to come across. I think passive is overpowered, and even Resist physical: 1 as a passive ability would have to come at some...

D&D 4E Are rules lawyers having less fun in 4e?

I am a rules lawyer. The rules are too vague for me, I wish they were more concrete like MtG. I will whine for 10 minutes to have a rule implemented correctly, but it is still an annoyance and overall a waste of time. Plus there is the annoying DM changes the rule trump card.

So, how are the Realms doing?

Just know that you are buying 90% fluff and 10% mechanics. There is a starting town and three sample quest composing the first 25% of the book, then Its mainly sections on the Current state of the pantheon, a decent summery on every major nation, a section on all the bad things that happened in...

So, how are the Realms doing?

The realms are scary now. Nethiril is back. Thay is crazier than ever. The underdark is more connected with the upper world. Evil deities have gathered quite a bit of power. At least 20% of the world is still being eaten alive by raw magic. Old FR had too many L20 adventurers clear it of...

New D&D Facebook Game Live Today!

Its not any edition, Its using the basic premise of 4e (Fixed stat + d20 vs Fixed Goal) but in a much more simple manner. Likely the game is a way to acquire new people and reacquire people that haven't played recently. The friends heal you function makes avid DnD players who attempt it try to...

New D&D Facebook Game Live Today!

Twice I've had the issue of being errored out of the game with the max connections thing, half hour later it comes back working again, I failed the encounter I was on, but ended up with like 5 extra items and 5 extra potions in my inventory with no way of finding out how. They were 90% crap, but...

Orb of Imposition Save modifier question

I'd suggest capping it, and the other 2 implement masteries at a maximum 5 bonus.

    Auras: Area Attack or Not?

I do not believe so, they appear to simply be trigger or constant effects. There is no dice roll, they auto-succeed, so they are not an attack. While they are not, if anything, they would be close attacks.

Orb of Imposition Save modifier question

Causing 1 creatures to perma-sleep isn't that bad. The orb effects 1 creatures, not everything hit by the spell.

3rd level changing my character. Maybe to wizard?

If you stay human, make sure to pick up the human feats, all three of them are amazing. Action surge allows you to spend your daily spells in a more accurate manner, human perseverance ups your chance to escape ill effects from 55% to 60% and Action recovery almost combines those two ideas...

    Warlock advice

In my opinion intelligence is important, it has an effect on every encounter power that you use. For daily powers, there is no benefit to using the star one, so if the star one is cha, and you build con, you can take the infernal daily. Dire radiance is con, and is a pretty decent ability, so...

3rd level changing my character. Maybe to wizard?

Take human, and use an 20 13 13 10 10 8 build. Wizards are lucky in that they can easily survive with low secondaries. Put the 13s into stats that allows important feats to get taken. If your wisdom is at least 1 take thunderwave as one of your 3 at wills. Take illusionary ambush as one other...

    Sharing my house rules

I myself use the blast/burst one, it just saves too much time. I like the light blades one. The prone one doesn't push me in either direction, it could be fun, but my PCs have never grabbed. I would never deny a halfling wizard 1/3 of his possible implements, seems like a good workaround. The...

    How many opportunity attacks?

Most of what you said sounds right. When the goblin moves through 3 adj spaces, the paladins gets three theoretical OAs, though he can only take one. So when the goblin leaves space 1, you decide to take the OA or not, then when he leaves square 2 you can decide again if you didn't already...

    Deathjump Spiders - Too Tough?

When clearing a small temple I had the party of 6 L7 players face a handful of L7 or 8 encounters, as well as a L4 encounter with a blade spider and 3 deathjumps, the spider encounter was said by one to be easily the hardest encounter of the temple.

    Couple Dragon questions

Likely the reason behind not having swampwalk is that black dragons can stil fly. A typical move will likely have the dragon fly to its destination completely ignoring difficult terrain. If you wish to use the dragon in a ground based manner, giving it swampwalk is perfectly reasonable in my...

[PHBII] New races, new classes and...

I don't care much for the idea of racial paragon paths. Race based paragon paths serve as a impassible blockade, as you cannot in any way gain a new race. This means if any racial PP is made that is powerful enough, it limits your possible races down to one. One of the biggest changes that...

[PHBII] New races, new classes and...

Epic destinies only take up half a page, a full page at most. While no doubt we will see at least a small handful of EDs in the PHBII, it is hard to imagine the unknown pages to be full of them. That is the major problem, other than classes, no other data type seems like it will take up more...
