    Vecna, Where is he now?

I heard he was Micheal Jackson.

    re Frostburn: Everyone worships ICE?!

Absolutely. In a dangerously frigid environment fire is a double-edged sword. Make a mistake and you're out in the cold.

When "Roleplaying" rears its ugly head...

Personally, if given the choice between playing in or running a game where PCs were inherently more valuable than NPCs (for some reason not directly related to the world) or one where PCs and NPCs were treated in accord with their merit and background- as individuals, I'd choose the latter. If I...

    A MONSTER Tome

It would be about 1,000 pages. Hmmm. I'd pay up to $150 for it, but it would be a steal at $100.

Do we really need monster books?

Monster books are second only to settings in my hierarchy of favorite type of books. I love the wierd implied ecologies, the pictures, the special abilities that evoke cool images. I love monster books. That said, I don't think they're necessary but if done right they add a dimension to the game.

    Hexes or Squares?

I haven't tried it, but I've been wanting to try yarn tied to the base of a mini. I think some old war games used something like this. Big paper clips chained together could work too, rather than having to ensure that the yarn didn't end up at strange lengths when it was tied. Either way, it...

    Gary Gygax..oh the irony

There are a few good ones for my name, but I like 'Consonantal Dr Kent' the most.

Seems like you have a question, Boz. :D

d20 slake-moths? (Warning! Getting into major Perdido Street Station Spoilers!)

D'oh! I'm Reading the book currently, and I just got to the point where the clerk redirected the caterpillar to Isaac. I guess I know what the significance of the little thing is. Oh well, hopefully it's a minor spoiler.

    D&D has threatened my job!

I hear you. I'd probably have been in their camp about 6 years ago. The world can be a dangerous place, and it's not being overprotective to cover the bases.

    Cheap Metal Dice?

To those suggesting pewter dice- wouldn't they be very bad to play with? Pewter's so malleable, I couldn't imagine them being fair for any period of time.

    D&D has threatened my job!

All things being neutral, I'd probably have a *big* propblem with my son gaming with a much older person as a minor. Unless I knew the person like a brother/sister, I'd have to wonder why they wanted to play with a kid. no matter what they said, it would still be in the back of my mind, and I'd...

    Mutants in a fantasy world

How about a meteor followed by a magical explosion (of the meteor); it would have that 1950s feel, and there wouldn't simply be a meteor that high level characters could teleport somewhere. A comet passing overhead could also work if you wanted limited effects.

    Not Work Safe...illegal?

And I'm actually very glad of it. While I frequent plenty of boards that allow that kind of thing, it's nice to have a safe haven, and to know that I'm not going to open a disturbing link because I was misled. (I'm no prude, but my son hangs out in my office a lot- he's at my side right now.)

    Blandest d20 Product?

Do you have it handy? I'd like to see a quote of this if possible. Did the author seem to know it was lackluster?

    Silly Monsters

I've never really seen the gelatinous cube as silly. Essentially, it's a viscous ooze, that likely gets its shape from rubbing up against walls to feed on organic matter like fungi, algea, or small vermin. Maybe after a while the feeding surface gets a bit irritated, and temporarily loses its...

    Question regarding PDFs...

I would guess there would be a market, but I couldn't say for sure. The Thing about doing PDFs is that they have a low cost of entry and low risk. Why not just try and see? Also with d20/OGL, you have the ability to compile the best stuff from these third party complete books... something I'd...

[Eberron] The War-Torn novel proposal thingie

Thanks. I'm sorry for the terse question, but it was the end of a long day for me when I posted that, and I hadn't heard about it. It was very cool of you to supply it, I can see how that might have come across as rude.
