    D&D 5E (2014) Morningstar: Age of Majesty; a campaign setting for 5e.

I will do my best. I'll be as clear and detailed as I can. I also plan to give each empire a full treatment this time around.

    D&D 5E (2014) Morningstar: Age of Majesty; a campaign setting for 5e.

I should clarify this; In the blog post I mentioned variant rules I'll be posting on my site, such as the aforementioned Healing rules. These would not be part of the Morningstar Setting, per se- they're just some rules I wrote for my own, medieval game. Worlds Workshop isn't a company- It's...

    D&D 5E (2014) Morningstar: Age of Majesty; a campaign setting for 5e.

Just a few Enemies Arril herself is an enemy, as described above, and all of her minions (Scriven, unnamed Void-things (I'll be naming these soon), Cultists, Aberrations) will stand in the way of a final confrontation that may or may not be possible in a given campaign. Evil Usurper Gods-...

    D&D 5E (2014) Morningstar: Age of Majesty; a campaign setting for 5e.

The original submission's one line summary said: "Morningstar is a world of epic fantasy, where Heroes fight to preserve a Golden Age of magic." Hoepfully the following list will help you see what kinds of things you can do in the setting, and what your motivations might be, and if not, I'll...

    D&D 5E (2014) Morningstar: Age of Majesty; a campaign setting for 5e.

Way back when Wizards held the Setting Search that produced Eberron, my own golden age setting, "Morningstar" was one of the 11 chosen to move onto the second round. It was later published by Goodman Games. It had a very small but loyal fanbase, but it never really made a splash. I bear most of...

    Players age

I'm 36 for a few more months. I think that by the time we're ready for it, there will be a market for an old gamer's home.

    D&D 5E (2014) So who is playing 5E?

I was running a solo adventure for a Dragonborn Paladin, using the site of the Caves of Chaos from the playtest with updated stats for monsters whenever possible. It was an extraction mission; another Paladin had gone in on a secret mission and had died. The PC had get his body back and bring it...

D&D 5E (2014) What's one thing that pleasantly surprised you, and one thing that disappointed you about the PHB?

See, your method actually models something I understand. I don't really understand what three Constitution saves models versus turning to stone. My immune system is fighting off the magical infection? Hmm. Actually, that might work for me.

D&D 5E (2014) What's one thing that pleasantly surprised you, and one thing that disappointed you about the PHB?

A DM Here. Pleasant Surprise: Combat is dangerous in the moment. Disappointed Me: Long Rests heal full HP. This breaks verisimilitude for me. I've started some variant rules with the understanding that they make healers more important and require those characters to focus more on healing in...

D&D 5E (2014) I for one hope we don't get "clarification" on many things.

I can't tell how to read this post. If you're being sarcastic, though, it's awesome. Edit: I just saw your sig. Good job.

D&D 5E (2014) I for one hope we don't get "clarification" on many things.

I'd rather see a DM who doesn't know what to do ask for advice from other DMs. That way there is no sense that the ruling comes from on-high.

D&D 5E (2014) I for one hope we don't get "clarification" on many things.

The player issue was caused, or at least exacerbated by the rules. I've frequently had players argue for the inclusion of their new book, saying that if I didn't allow X, Y, or Z, they would have wasted money. We can't divorce the culture from the rules. The Rules shape the culture.

D&D 5E (2014) I for one hope we don't get "clarification" on many things.

I'm a hardcore dog person, and 5th may be my favorite edition yet (not having seen the rest of the core).

D&D 3.x Play Board Games Review: "5e really feels like the best from 2e, 3e and 4e."

That's what I meant when I said 5th had the soul of 2nd edition (which was part of one line in a long thread). 1st edition is there too (they're practically the same), but this thread specified 2nd edition.

I very much agree. This edition gives the game back to the group.

D&D 3.x Play Board Games Review: "5e really feels like the best from 2e, 3e and 4e."

This is all my opinion, of course. Best of 2e: -A Strong DM, capable of making rulings and not having an obscure rule contradict him/her as often. -Focus on Exploration and wonder. -Focus on the in-game fiction over the gamelike elements. -The implication of many diverse settings where the...

I'm with you on the clarification aspect. I hope Wizards keeps trusting the creativity of its DMs.

D&D 5E (2014) What direction do you want to see D&D 5e go?

Here are my demands. Wizards must meet them before 2016, or Pun Pun gets it. Monster books. Pregenerated NPC books. Integrated addons to the game like a Psionics handbook with Psions and subclasses for the core classes with psionics. I only want to see new classes when they are iconic to the...

Tavern Tales: Free new RPG I found on Reddit

I'm liking almost all of what I'm reading right now. My main hangup is how the game handles checks and difficulty. For every roll you need to roll an 11 or higher on one of three dice. That's the part I have a problem with. Even with increased and decreased rolls, it seems to limit the possible...
