    Martial artist without monk "spirituality"?

I really like the Mystic class... I think that's the way I will go. Thanks!

    Martial artist without monk "spirituality"?

How would you go about building a martial artist (hand to hand combatant) without using the Monk class? Specifically, doing away with Lawful alignment requirement and the mystical/spiritual aspects, and just having a fighter that uses his hands and feet? My first thought is to make it a...

    Battlestar Galactica Returns! Who's excited!?

It was not my intent to rain on the parade. My apologies. I enjoy the show tremendously. I understand the need to look past inconsistencies to just enjoy it. But I was having a problem understanding the technology "gap" (and it was hampering my enjoyment), and figured someone here could...

    Battlestar Galactica Returns! Who's excited!?

Not buying it. We have better phones and computers RIGHT NOW, but we still don't have interstellar flight or space ships. I'm supposed to believe they have 1980's technology in an interstellar aircraft carrier?

Rate Spielberg's War of the Worlds

    6. On the strength of the siren/horn/honk sound effect alone. No one else has mentioned this? Absolutely the best sound effect EVER!!!!!!!! (The only inconsistency that drove me bonkers was the son surviving. Cut him from the entire movie and he wouldn't be missed at all)

    Battlestar Galactica Returns! Who's excited!?

Could someone explain to me why the technology on BSG is so goofy? The phones have cords?! But the real kicker for me was how long their computer took to enhance the picture of Baltar--- hours?! Gimme a break!

    Jean Paul and Bullets

The closest I ever got to an explanation that made sense was that the e on the end means that the r is not silent, but is barely pronounced. Perhaps SAR-Truh would be a better alliteration? Half my professors said SART and the other half said SAR-Truh, and none of us spoke French.

    Jean Paul and Bullets

Forgive me for this non-gaming post, but I'm sure someone on these boards can answer this question. As a spin-off (of sorts) from the monster mis-pronunciation thread... What is the correct pronunciation of Jean Paul Sartre? Is it SART or SAR - TRE (with the R sound very muted and barely...

    Odd levels for fighters

I like the skill points idea. 2 points on every odd level? Is that too much? At 1st level the Fighter must choose a "profession" or "flavor focus" and from that select a number (4 or so) of skills that belong to that profession. Thereafter, at every odd level of fighter they get 2 skill points...

    Reactive movement

I like these. Compare to: Jump for Cover: sacrifice your next standard action and fall prone in order to reduce damage from a melee attack in ½. You take full damage unless you succeed in a Reflex save against the attacker’s roll to hit roll. On a failed roll, you take full damage, lose your...

    Nimblecraft armor

S.T. Cooley's Treasures and Objects d'Art also has some of these items (many of which I believe were from the Heroes of High Favor books). One of Malhavoc's books (I think it was Hallowed Might 2 or Eldritch Magic 3) has "super masterwork" items also. As does the Arcanis campaign setting.

    Designing an archer

I am by no means an expert, but I'd recommend S16 D18 C18 I13 W12 CH11. If you want skill points, make it C13 and I18. Human Fighter. 3 feats: Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot, and then either Dodge or Weapon Focus. Other feats I'd take: Rapid Shot, Manyshot, Weapon Specialization, Mobility...

    D&D 3.5 PC game

For Temple... apply patch1 and patch2 from Atari and Circle of Eight's patch 3 and the bugs go away. It's a great game. I'm playing through it for the 2nd time and having a blast.

    How do you capture monsters??

Yikes! I assume this is a non-good party we're talking about? The paladin is most certainly not going to allow this... I second the polymorph option (and the stone/shrink was good, too)

How would you take over the modern world if you had magic?

Is it realistic to expect world leaders to be of low enough level to be affected by Charm Person? Given that rulers in D&D are usually at least 5th level Aristocrats, and often 10th level or higher (and sometimes epic), wouldn't real-world leaders also be leveled? And thus Charm Person wouldn't...

    ToEE... how make magic items?

I'm re-playing ToEE, this time selecting item creation feats for my cleric and wizard. I've enchanted the weapons and armor to +1, but the menus will not let me add any qualities to the weapons (like Flaming, for instance). Given that this game is notoriously buggy... has anyone ever been able...

What made the Mongols so good?

Feign retreat, lure pursuit, envelop and destroy. It's like the Europeans were idiots! They fell for that over and over (I recently read a book about the Crusades, and the Muslim forces used that tactic over and over... and the Christians kept falling for it)
