The Monster Manual 2 Cover is up on Amazon

Tentacle-Baboons have your number and they are not happy with what you did to Orcus. So, who plans on buying it? I was initially thinking, "Why would anyone get that? Monsters can be reskinned..." But then I realized that I would like a second MM of baddies to give me more things to reskin...

    Cadfan's Comments on Everything 4e

Great review. Thanks a bunch. On minions, one could do the accidental Mearls method - use minions as bait. And yeah, mithral is really different. Or at least... it isn't as incredibly awesome as it used to be. I would let the jedi swing with two hands and then use the force to deflect attacks...

How other games have helped you appreciate 4e

Agreed. Much love for the Changeling. Lost and Dreaming. Anyway, on topic... Actually, while playing in a 4e game a friend convinced my old DM, my girlfriend, and myself to give DDO a shot. There was a thread on here a while back on DDO that I mentioned this in. Basically, DDO is a heckuva'...

    N00b question... :)

In summation of everyone's comments... Danceofmasks pointed out that on the attack roll you would add the weapon's proficiency because Righteous Brand has the weapon keyword. +4 STR, +1 from half levels +1 magic + 2 mace prof (unless you're swording somehow) = +8 vs. AC. As Mach said, "1[w]+...

    On Marking ("Why you little . . . ")

The Divine Challenge is specifically a divine compulsion (says so in them there rules!). It's sort of like the creature will get negative reinforcement if it chooses not to attack the paladin. Also, to maintain the challenge the paladin must 'engage the target'. This involves attacking the...

Anyone tried a Fighter / Warlock multiclass?

I think you'll probably have to house rules some things. I can't recall their shtick other than using The Iron. I'm not sure how Fighter/warlock (and Warlock/fighters work, but I've heard Paladins and warlocks mix well). Ah, I'll just open the thing... The Ironfell weapons may be a bit too...

D&D 4E Is 4E doing it for you?

LOL. I like those terms. And, I agree with you. Yeah, I noticed a similar aspect in myself. In other games I prefer a point-buy because I feel like it puts everyone on an equal footing. I also feel like it helps for D&D, even though rolling for stats is an oddly fun thing.

Hmm... I'll witness to you calling it if that's how it turns out.

1E vs Forked Thread: Is 4E doing it for you?

I know, housecats. I do love 'em, but there was something always discouraging about it. I can't really quantify the reason for my opinion but I strongly disliked [the new feats etc.] because it always felt like 3.x was a... by the rules system. Like, everything is tied together (probably not...

D&D 4E Is 4E doing it for you?

I think it's okay, but at the same time it'd promote the idea of reigniting an edition war. While everyone's going back and forth here - I think for the most part everyone's being civil and exchanging ideas. A few more sarcastic or snarky comments... but nothing that's really insulting or...

    A PC who wont kill

That is such an adorably cute concept. On topic, I've seen a pacifist cleric in 3e work fine. I think in 4e 'not killing' is really easily, while 'non-violence' is pretty tough. No physical violence could be okay if it was a wizard w/ the illusionist spells. Or, a person who just...

    Quick deaths in D&D

I rarely have PC deaths. I tend to not have overpoweringly amazing villains (or if those do exist, the PCs know well enough to avoid them) who know EVERYTHING or anything like that. Always seemed cheap. My traps have a way of being solved (Why else would they be there unless someone wanted to...

1E vs Forked Thread: Is 4E doing it for you?

I love housecats! In other news, I remember a common problem in 3.x was that I'd houserule how a thing would be done, only to see a book a few months later saying, "You need this feat to do that!" Or Pirate ship battles should go this way! Man, I hated that. 4e. I will continue to think that...

D&D 4E Is 4E doing it for you?

Wouldn't rolling a totally random character prevent a person from playing what they want to play? I know that what I just said may sound like snark, but I am genuinely curious. Butuhh... I'm sorry your experience w/ 4e was a bad one. [Relative Anecdote] I wanted to play a Tempest Fighter in...

    D&D 3.x 3E+4E rules campaign possible?

Sort of. When I was running a 3.x game a few years ago I made up prestige classes for people that were pretty much added bonuses/etc. that they started gaining as soon as they got to level 11. It worked really well. But, I have not tried using the official paragon paths from 4e. I do know that...

Possibly dumb poll: Playing vs. Running D&D Editions

This. Although it'd take a lotta' houserulin' to bring me back to the 3e.
