When you want to strangle a player

The drama llama is running wild. Sounds like the player is being a crybaby. Being a bard doesn't make someone a superhero. It makes them entertainment. I'd sooner cut loose a crybaby player than kill an otherwise enjoyable game. Especially since it sounds to me like the player is just whining...

    Atonement without repentance?

I agree. Tangent. I've always liked handling things like communes, etc. that way. Gods are supernatural. No reason to handle it like email. I'll have solars, etc. show up for the conversation, to provide the answer, etc. Makes for good role playing in my experience. I'd agree, in general, but...

    Atonement without repentance?

That's also not correct specifically as it relates to the Church of Heironeous. That church actually has a defined code of conduct, best summed up as "to act with honor and uphold the virtues of justice and chivalry in both word and deed at all times".

    Atonement without repentance?

Per alignment the character acted in a chaotic manner, which in and of itself isn't anything to be upset about. However, the action wasn't good either. IMO the real problem here comes from the nature of the Church of Heironeous. I have read a post (or two) that mentions that clerics have no...

    Stupidest things PCs/DMs have done

He rushed forward in another combat and was the victim of a custom critical. Managed to get captured by the bad guys and was killed instead of giving the party up. It was actually a pretty balls move on his part.

    Ultimate self-sufficiant char.

Awesome. Thanks for the link, and thanks to all for the explanation on the druid. I guess indeed it's a case of my just never having seen them played effectively. :)

Tangent, but would you mind linking me to that? I'd like to see the list from top down. TIA.

Cloak of Minor Displacement & friendly spellcasting

But Blur doesn't say the same thing. If it did, I'd be able to quote it directly. I can't. <> If that's how you want to portray it, sure. I'm applying the same miss chance across the board. I'll agree to disagree with you. Cheers.

When PCs Talk: Free, swift, move action?

I wouldn't much enjoy that kind of game. We may, from time to time, restrict talk (i.e. no giving a dissertation during a 6 second round) but a large component of the games I play in are the social elements. If I wanted to sit quietly in a room and be talked to... I'd hang out at home with the...

Cloak of Minor Displacement & friendly spellcasting

Yes, I think it's different as I have quoted and cited text from the spell repeatedly. I base it the same as the miss chance for an attack. Or the character can take the cloak off, or in my house rules, can suppress the effect of the cloak as a standard action (which has precedence as the...

Cloak of Minor Displacement & friendly spellcasting

Again, I fail to see what blur has to do with anything. It's never referenced once in the displacement spell or the cloak of displacement. IMO referencing blur is just needlessly muddying the waters. IMO you have made a leap from what the effect is (appearing about 2 feet away from its true...

Cloak of Minor Displacement & friendly spellcasting

I'm not sure what blur has to do with anything. CoD references the displacement spell. I quoted the spell above. The first sentence is a key element. No matter what the owner intends, the CoD (and spell) make the recipient of a friendly spell "appear about 2 feet away from its true location".

    Ultimate self-sufficiant char.

I'm curious as to why folks are saying Druid? My experience with druids is that they tend to get crushed in combat and their animal companions can rarely keep up. Based on the responses though, either I'm clearly missing something or have just never seen an effective druid played. Anyone care...

Cloak of Minor Displacement & friendly spellcasting

Well, that's not *quite* what the spell says: "The subject of this spell appears to be about 2 feet away from its true location. The creature benefits from a 50% miss chance as if it had total concealment. However, unlike actual total concealment, displacement does not prevent enemies from...

If you were an evil telepath, what would you mind switch into to live forever?

Ah. That's dramatically different than racial paragon classes (which I have long thought were some of the weakest things ever devised in the game).

Cloak of Minor Displacement & friendly spellcasting

"Cloak of Displacement, Minor This item appears to be a normal cloak, but when worn by a character its magical properties distort and warp light waves. This displacement works similar to the displacement spell except that it only grants a 20% miss chance on attacks against the wearer. It...

Cloak of Minor Displacement & friendly spellcasting

Heh. Reminds me of a recent thing in one of our games. Most of us play in 2, one on Friday night the other on alternating Saturdays (so 1 game a week). Death rules in one is -10, per SRD, etc. Death rule in other is -con, and if someone can heal you to at least -con in the *same* round you go...
