Agreed. One of the best DM methodologies (if that's the right word for it) I have seen adheres to the fact that the world does not revolve around the PC's. In short, there is nothing that inherently prevents a bunch of 1st level PCs from storming a dragons lair. It's not like the world suddenly...

I'm confused. How does magic missile, fireball and evards fit in with a vow of nonviolence and a vow of peace? Even with nonlethal substitution, I'm not sure how that would address more than one (specifically fireball) of the three...

Only if you completely ignore the part that says that it is largely unfounded. Furthermore though, even if some may be known to do that, there is no guarantee that *this* one did, and a pretty fundamental tenet of lawful and goodness is that one isn't guilty of things that others may or may not...

Followup question(S). Would killing your character be a lawful good act in those circumstances? Or, to be more in line with the original scenario, if your gag is removed to argue with you, and you in turn yell out for help, are then knocked out and while unconscious are summarily executed, would...

And let's not forget that, as I recall from the OP, the reason the lizardman could shout a warning in the first place was due to another rash action by a PC in removing the lizardman's gag...

No, he didn't. He's not bound to a LG alignment. I think that is another of the major points that's being overlooked. When a non-LG creature does non-LG things, that doesn't allow the LG characters to decide to follow suit.
