Pathfinder 1E Interview with PATHFINDER lead designer Jason Bulmahn

The Book of Vile Stairs? The Book of Exalted Stairs? Lords of Up and Down. The Book of Stairs? Staironomicon?

    Song of ice and fire

Asoif I had the honor to playtest the rules as narrator back in 07 (yep, this baby is a long time in the making). All I can say that the system is perfect for a gritty low/no magic medieval campaign. It fits hand in glove with the Song of Ice and Fire setting. It makes sense to wear heavy armor...

    RotRL or CotCT

What rogerouge said and let me add that there are always power hungry people around who will ally with whomever seems to have power at the meoment and is willing to elevate their station. So even if most of the common people hate the BBEG, there are those with enough power and not enough...

Pathfinder 1E Monte Cook joins Pathfinder team

For all those who fear that Pathfinder RPG will not be compatible enough with 3.5, especially Non Core 3.5 Classes, Feats etc.: 1) Do a playtest with PRPG Classes and Non Core Classes (said Beguiler maybe) 2) Write down zyour experience 3) Post it on the Pathfinder RPG Playtest boards. PFRPG...

    A Game of Thrones RPG

To chime in with Aus Snow, A Song of Ice and Fire RPG by Green Ronin comes out in August this year (at Gen Con). This Game uses its own system that is not related to D20 or True20. It was specifically created to support a Grim and gritty low to no magic setting. It has rules for Mass combat and...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder compatible products from other publishers?

Haha, lets see if they are faster with the PGL* than WoC with the GSL! :p *Pathfinder Gaming License.

    Blood of the Gorgon

If I remember correctly, you can buy the previous adventure. So if you sign up for Blood of the Gorgon, you can also buy Arabian Nights. But better have look at Wolfgang Baurs Webiste and go to th Forum and ask your question.

D&D is dying by the hour

WoC and Paizo do NOT play in the same league when it comes to sales. So while WoC has to sell a lot of their stuff to make 4th edtion (and the continuation) of the D&D bran worthwhile, Paizo can live with much much smaller sales figures. That said, the Pathfinder RPG at the moment is an open...

    Pathfinder 1E Paizo being mysterious

Today might be the date they HAVE to decide if they do the fourth AP in 4th (without knowing the GSL) or if they do it in 3.5 (without knowing if enough gamers will stay 3.5 to make it worthwhile). After all, they have to finish the AP in the near future so it can be printed and shipped!

Jason Bulmahn Speaks about DDXP(His take on the system)

If it was only Monsters it would be cake to convert. But we have the big Magic Problem. A lot of spells from 3,5 won't be in 4th and vice versa. Magic Items work differently and are different. And encounters work different. A designer has to take all this into account and the work involved...

Jason Bulmahn Speaks about DDXP(His take on the system)

Do not forget that FFG now will produce the Warhammer RPG and Warhammer 40k RPG products. Green Ronin are currently developing the "A Song of Ice and Fire" Roleplaying Game, which has its own, non D20 engine (plug: and a damn good engine at that. I promise that bthis game will be a big success...

    D&D 4E 4E Rogue for non-4E enthusiast

Looking at the rogue I see the emphasis on encounters. All of the rogue abilities are handy in combat. But I see nothing that supports the skill type rogue. Compared to 3rd it seems that the customization of skills for 4th edition is different and it seems narrower. If I want to create a...

Monte's 3.75? (A sequal is on its way)

I will buy Montes Book of Experimental Might though I won't buy and DM (playing is another thing) 4th edition for a long time to come. Is that a contradiction? No! Montes Book uses some of the 4th edition ideas in a Toolkit approach. That means I can use my 3.5 Books and simply add the things...

The Devil's in the Details: Slavicsek reveals the Pit Fiend in all its glory

You are still thinking in 3rd edition terms! We do not know if 1) Wnads as they were still are and b) Charm is Charm as it was. :D Me, thinking in 3rd edition Terms: A Pit Fiend Vampire! 1) Dominate 2) Slide 3) Boom there goes the Fighter... EDIT: Won't be possible in 4th: because PC death...

The Devil's in the Details: Slavicsek reveals the Pit Fiend in all its glory

Nope, the 4th Pitfiend is soooo boring! It is slightly more intriguing than a Goblin Adept. And this Monster, this Pit Fiend, is the elite of Hell? This is from the Monster :Demons & Devils article: Huh? Where are the devices and tools beside the Mace? Incredible magic Items? My A@@! Where...

FR Update at WotC-Year of the Ageless One

Nah, I just made fun of the whole 4th edition hype that many things in 3rd were "unfun" and they changed it. As the Realms get change big time they must have been unfun. Just an ironic joke.

FR Update at WotC-Year of the Ageless One

This is why you HAVE o buy the new FR Stuff. The world is changed and all the old (and unfun) Stuff is of no use. FR is a Brave New World now! :]

    D&D 4E 4e previews due in December

Wolfgang Baur is just one man. WOC is a comapny. That was the difference I wanted to point out. Wolfgang started working on KQ AFTER Dragon and Dungon were no longer printed! So that leaves both Wolfgang and WOC with the same amount of time to work on periodicals. Nope, it works like this...

    D&D 4E 4e previews due in December

Now it is 3 quarterlies. And if I remember correctly, the old dragon had a lot of content from freelance designers! But even only 3 quarterlies is a lot more content than WOC were able to put on their Dungon and Dragon website. The 160 page adventure was written by Wolfgang. The Patrons were...

    D&D 4E 4e previews due in December

Ok, WOC is a big company, they have a lot of emplyees and they can hire freelancers. They have no time or focus because 4th edition takes so much time? Hell, they are doing 4th since 2 years and should know by now that designing a new game takes a lot of time. I really do not care for any...
