Sure, t is a huge setting, but WoC probably would have conducted a market survey where in the Realms DM let most of their adventures and campaigns play.
Kara Tur, Sembia and other foreign and not explored regions may not hold the same appeal for most groups as the the Swordcoast or the North...
Call it Grey-Realms or Forgotten-Hawks and it is jovial and funny :p
Anyway, the "Setting Merge" was just a crazy idea with no facts that might verify it.
I think you are right humble minion. I only own some FR products and read through some of the Books but even I can see that these Realms won't be the old 1ed/2ed/3xed any more.
The feel of the few pages of the new Salvatore Book almost read like a crossover between Greyhawk and FR.
Notice...
Apocalypse in the Realms?
Well, aside from the few hints in Salvatores Book, there might be some other, more technical and financial reasons:
1) 4th Edition will be a new Edition not an update. The designers more than once stated, that it is very difficult to transfer PCs from 3x to 4th. It...
Interesting, who was that E.N. person? Is he still around? Maybe he has some insights into 4th edition? Care to give us a link to his information page? :p
I have the Ebberon Camapign Setting and the Warforged fits. But I can not see a Warforged in a Sword and Sorcery adventure (maybe in the Wilderlands?).
Conan meets Warforged is too cheesy for me to even think about it.
Anyway, if the new Default Setting "Points of Light" is somewhat similiar to...
It might make the game much faster but also somewhat (more) illogical.
Lets say there are about 30halfling rogues in my fireball radius.
Either they all manage to get away or the all will get their hair singed.
No in between.
The Nazis had a Pendant to use what they perceived as old germanic sounding names (but was mostly from Wagners Operas).
Uebermensch or Herrenrasse was not a name in itself but something the Germans wanted to achieve.
I would call him "Siegfried" after the legendary Hero. It might be "model"...
Ahh, finally we have real Treehuggers and Daisyeaters. :D
"No Sir, I don't eat meat, I rather smoke my weed!"
"That Orc there trod on a flower, I smite him with my power!"
I am already lovin' it.
Dwarves rule, now more than ever :]
As a DM and Player I rather like the challenge to master or play in an unorthodox party. If you do not cover all roles you have to chnage your playstyle and the DM maybe his adventure.
A 4 rogue party will have a hard time against a Lich Necromancer.
But then, why should a 4 rogue group go...
Just to BUMP this Thread and to make (contact) to finish the campaign notes. He is very active on the 4th ed Board.
So (contact) give us the rest of the story!
Ahem, you are speaking of the medieval Black Forest in Germany, right? In my 6 years in Freiburg I never saw a wolf, lion or bear outside the zoo (although some fellow students looked and smelled a little bit like a bear). :D
Playtester prints NDA Document out and sends it via Mail or Fax to WoC.
This method worked fine with me and my group for our playtests with Green Ronin.
The Default Setting is a good Setting for New DMs and DMs that don't want to read through dozens of Setting Books or write down a long Setting History.
This is like the Wilderlands of High Fantasy.
And in such a Setting there is always room for an ancient empire just behind the Mountain Range or...
Instead of giving the monsters more room why not go the other way and give the PCs less room to move? Small creatures can play to their strengths to move through small holes and passages while PCs have to squeeze through.
And btw. I thought that the concept of a dynamic dungeon, where its...
Yeah, that is what I heard too. Just finish with the old one and get yourself a new 4th edition one.
Statting her out will be much easier.
It will be fun, using all the new manoevers on her.
And just think about the longer sweet spot ;)
(embolded by me)
That might be the reason why 4th edition comes so fast. If that is the case -and i hope not- 4th Edition might be too rushed.
I really believe it is full of brillant ideas from what I read but again I am sceptical if internal playtesting and the short ecternal time is enough...
Yeah, i know and games with Newbees will be like this:
Newbee Fighter: I use Feat Mightyblow to do 500 points of Damage to that Dragon.
DM: Hmm, actually in Patch B2 it says that the Feat can not be used against Huge or bigger opponents. And it does a maximum of 100 points damage.
Newbee...
