Yeah. Darkness doesn't actually make things dark--it creates "shadowy illumination," the same that a candle or dim lamp is described as doing elsewhere. Try blacklight, which creates "an area of total darkness," 20-foot radius. Sor/Wiz 3, Darkness domain 3.

Get a big bag of very tough leather. Put things in that bag. Then put that bag inside the bag of holding.

THAC0 instead of attack bonus. AC goes backwards from 10. Nonweapon proficiencies instead of skills. No feats. Multiclassing is for demihumans; dual-classing is for humans.

Improved Toughness feat. Requires base Fort save +2, gives 1 hit point per hit die.

I actually like columns, myself--on 8.5in width paper, a single long line can be hard to keep track of.

Actually, Mummy and a few others are given LAs and Savage Species-style class progressions in Libris Mortis. With it, the mummy traits (for example) are added on top of the base creature, and the 'levels' go up from there.
