Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

Okay, I'm lost. I'm having a hard time keeping track of all these “nanotech” D20 spinoffs, and the differences between them. How many are there? Where can I find them? Are they all related somehow, or did they start springing up independently from one another?

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

I was thinking the same thing.

What don't you like about D&D?

Things I don’t like about D&D: 1. Hit points. 1. Non-scaling AC. 2. Armor that makes you harder to hit, instead of harder to hurt. 3. Fire & Forget magic. 4. Alignment. 5. AoOs (Or anything else that needlessly slows down combat.) 6. Three books needed to run a full game, as opposed to one...

[Rant] Bad cliches, silly names, and acting stupid around the gaming table

This is pretty much what I was going to say.

Would you play in a setting with no money?

Well, I don’t have any money IRL, so I’d be pretty acclimated to the idea already.

    Posting from work... [short rant]

I have one off period a day between teaching classes, so I often use that time to poke around online, assuming I don’t have parents to call, papers to file, lesson plans to submit, etc… The school has actually blocked access to En World, but I get around that by running a search on an old...

Dead in your first combat ever?

Nor mine. We emulate D&D with True20. Bad luck? Fix it with a conviction point, assuming you didn’t waste them all earlier.

Playing a less then great stat character

I kind of get exited whenever I roll really poorly during CharGen. I think “how can I use these numbers to come up with some whacktacular wimp/clutz/gimp/moron/fool/unpopular character that everyone will remember for years?" I mean, did you ever stop to think about what Don Quixote’s stats...

    Retro D&D Ad- Whoa

I think nerd-rap peaked when MC Chris released “Fette’s Vette”: http://webjay.org/iteminfo/18546998/97dbb0ffb7f16ac22622b2a487f49d4c (Offensive language warning, yadda, yadda, yadda… It’s a rap song.) It’s kind of sad looking back- I always thought that the Nintendo dork from that ad deserved...

    Getting rid of AoO-Good Idea?

AoO’s, like all other unnecessarily annoying things in the universe, are better off never having existed in the first place.

    Retro D&D Ad- Whoa

Yeah, people post links to this ad every once in a while. Sure, it’s pretty goofy, but honestly it’s not any more or less disturbing than most other commercials circa 1984: http://www.retrojunk.com/list_commercials.php?era=1980 After all, this was the whacktacular era of: Advice from Pee Wee...

    'D&D' with True20 -- thoughts?

That has been my experience as well. Quite nice.

    The easiest & quickest RPGs?

You could always look into Deep7’s “1PG” line. You can learn the system in, what, 30 minutes? An hour?

    'D&D' with True20 -- thoughts?

I ran The Sunless Citadel in True20 a while back. Although I am gobsmacked on a daily basis over what an amazing improvement True20 is over the standard D20 system, I do recall running into a couple of “rapids” while running a converted D&D module in actual play. Alas, I don’t have my notes...

D&D, house rules, and other game systems

I was just about to point this out. I mean, RIFTS was UNPLAYABLE without them, right?

    roleplaying people are satanists ;)

Whoa! Whoa, hold up! What are you guys saying exactly… That you DON’T play D&D as a form of worship to The Great Dark Lord Beast Of The Night!?! Well then, what in the heck are we playing for? I thought that the whole point of trying to win D&D was to earn the rite of ritual...

    Training to Level

I tried “train-to-gain” a couple of times back in 2E. In pretty much every case, this stipulation got fudged to the point of non-existence, as it didn’t really add anything to the game while at the same time detracting a great deal from it.

The Knock On effect and Complexity Complaints

The primary reason I dropped 3.5 in favor of True20 and C&C was largely because I got to the point where I loathed GMing it (with most of that loathing due to the rigors of prep time.) It simply wasn’t fun anymore… Or, about as much fun as doing calculus homework anyway. Oddly, I don’t have...

    Inconvenient PC death in D&D

One of the biggies on my “pre-campaign checklist” is to ask the players in advance how they want to handle character death, or characters who have been nerfed somehow through adventuring. More often than not, the players elect to simply roll up replacement characters that somehow conveniently...
