Not really. From what the designers said, you are way off in your "opinion". Wrong facts don't make opinions. There is no different conclusion to come to unless you haven't read all of what I have. So I guess with missing information, your "opinion" may differ.

We've been had this confirmation. Basically all they did was remind people or tell people who may have missed it. I think it is about time they start narrowing that range down some.

I think you still misunderstand roles. They are not the only thing a class does. They are given stuff so they can do that role well with little effort, but the can stray FAR from that with feat and power choices without the need to multiclass. And they have explicitly stated that the roles are...

Actually the roles are guidelines and can be very blurred and blended and the classes aren't confined to them in any way. That is in direct opposition to what mmo roles are. The only thing similar are the names and the basic premise.

In anime's case, it would be more like, "Have you tried this vegatable?" Animes are alot more varied than just different ways to cook turnup greens. Though I don't like any vegatable except potatoes and tomato sauce(if you consider tomatoes a vegatable). It's like, "I don't like vegatables."...

This is why you should say you don't like flowery names and not that you don't like anime and d&d is becoming too anime because of these names. When you make a false claim like that, expect it to get picked apart. As cadfan said, just say what you mean. Don't try to relate it to something else...

This guy sums it up well. Making false claims based on faulty knowledge does not have to be tolerated just because it is an opinion. If it can be proven false, then you are basically spreading lies.

Saying that is unfair to video games, though, because they got it from d&d. You could say video games feel like a cheap version of d&d, but not vice versa because of that.

I may be wrong, but I believe he is referring to the 3.5 xph. There were mmo's by then.

I'll concede this one, too. Though one could argue that a dm could allow a player to change his choice on some aspect of his character, and that could have happened since the beginning of d&d. But the actually in game use of respec-ing and mechanic of it was not there.

^This. Saying d&d feels like a cheap rip-off of video games is really saying d&d is a cheap rip-off of video games that were a cheap rip-off of d&d. D&D definitely came first. Only new mechanical aspects such as per encounter can be said to come from video game mechanics.

I think every referrence to video games mentioned in this thread(save for MAYBE the halo referrence) was actually originated in d&d first. Resurection? D&D first. Go fight monsters in a dungeon and get loot and experience? D&D first. Alot of people forget that d&d came before hardly any video...
