    Banned from public RPG

Extra points for innocently oblivious denial! But seriously, I've seen better. Maybe if you'd picked a Wolverine. Or a Mongoose.

    Ancestral Whispers

It reminds me a bit of the end of this Star Trek episode. I suppose it might be possible to abuse, but if that happens, you start telling the player no.

What flavor of 'Old School' do you like?

Y'know, when people begin arguing dictionary definitions, that usually tells me the argument is going nowhere.

If [insert company here] produced a collectors edition...

It would depend on the price point, the features involved, and the company. Burned by Meisha Merlin? Not me! But as a rule, I don't think I'd like it all in one book though, and I know I wouldn't pay for a leather-bound cover on parchment printed from ink mixed with the ashes of the authors.

Why doesn't WotC license older editions?

Yep, you seem to have understood what I was saying. Certainly a valid question, but I don't know how we can answer it. And as I recall some postings on the piracy issue, it doesn't just make customers act crazy, it makes some of the pirates behave in a crazy fashion. Insanity. It's...

Why doesn't WotC license older editions?

And so I wonder why you think what I said makes 100% no sense. You seem to have understood what I said well enough. You may not agree, but you seem to have gotten it. That's ok, I realize that I'm not going to convince anybody because I know so little. Believe it or not, I'd like to know...

    Gaming Generation Gap

    I recommend Keebler Elves.

Why doesn't WotC license older editions?

For you, maybe not. For Wizards? Their answer may be entirely different. Since I don't see them revealing their internal affairs any time soon, I suspect there's no real way to know. Unless you want to try to buy-out Hasbro? ;) Me, I know what happens when you keep doing the same old...

How do you explain overnight Healing in your game?

I just break out a copy of Operation!

How do you explain overnight Healing in your game?

Any player who came to me with this would find themselves being told to stop meta-gaming. Now if they wanted to investigate whether or not the horse was drugged, the saddle was cursed, or I dunno, Sir Fred was given extra fortified wine, then that'd be fine. I believe they already used...

    Gaming Inspired Real Life Adventures

Me, I'm the opposite of most of the people in this thread, I think of these adventures and I get a cold shiver down my spine. Maybe I've watched those Chevy Chase Vacation movies too much. Not saying you can't enjoy it, but me? No thanks!

How do you explain overnight Healing in your game?

We're not talking about what the characters know. The meta-game information you're talking about is things the characters don't know, though the players might. When you bring up things in the rules and try to use them to invalidate events in the world, that is actually relying on the rule...

    Game night cancelled

I'm upset when it rains during the race, so no, no it's not.

Why doesn't WotC license older editions?

Well, maybe in the future, when they've decided to go with whatever other options they're considering, they'll come back. If not, it's only a few more decades till they slip into the public domain! ;) Wizards has already left the OGL behind though, so I suspect that in their opinion, it can't.

How do you explain overnight Healing in your game?

Wait, you think this was an argument when 4e came out? I hate to tell you this, but this was an argument when 1e was out. And 2e as well. For myself, I resolved it by pointing out to the players the difference between story-based events defined by the GM, and events that occur according to...

Why doesn't WotC license older editions?

There's a reason why I said the last line of my post: Sure, you might say "Well, they could have just kept the status quo" but I don't think it was enough to entice them. Why did I say this? Because I feel it's quite possible for Wizards of the Coast to not be gaining anything meaningful...

Pathfinder 1E Things you Think WoTC should follow from Paizo

Yes, and it must have Dancing Girls.

Why doesn't WotC license older editions?

Perhaps, but what would Wizards of the Coast get from that? From your description of the quality, I'm not imagining them getting much in the way of praise or customers from it. Sure, you might say "Well, they could have just kept the status quo" but I don't think it was enough to entice them.

    Need more Spontaneous Combustion Tables!

Why doesn't WotC license older editions?

Not at all, the problem of getting good versions is an important consideration. Sounds like they'd still have to work on it, and at 4 bucks a pop, I don't know if they'd be making any real money on it.
