The Game for Non-Gamers: (Forked from: Sexism in D&D)

That might make sense if the reply wasn't from Ariosto to something in post 150, which was itself a reply to post 148. So, yeah, you're not helping me understand Ariosto any better. To repeat a bit of what I've asked already, and haven't yet seen any answer: Why can't I, as the GM, proceed...

Edition War Across the Net or Where Have You Been?

Only on the Internet and at the FLGS, and barely there. There are a lot more heated arguments over matters I cannot discuss here because my grandmother would come up from the grave to make me wash my mouth of with soap. Then she'd wash out your eyes for seeing it.

What alignment is Cobra Commander - the Official Word

I prefer him as a Used Car Salesman made good.

The Game for Non-Gamers: (Forked from: Sexism in D&D)

Sorry, I don't understand your concerns. In the context of the game, "Scaring the NPC away from his girl" can describe an action well enough for me to know how to proceed. Why do you think it doesn't?

And your intent would be then? I'm still not sure. So you were confused about what I meant? You should have just said so instead of spouting off random phrases. I might have been able to explain it to you. So what do you not understand?

The Game for Non-Gamers: (Forked from: Sexism in D&D)

If you said any of that to me in the hypothetical circumstances, I'd have to say I have no idea what you're talking about, and that I was unable to proceed. In fact, I'm pretty sure that's the case now. I don't think I'm understanding what you're attempting to express with these phrases at all...

The Game for Non-Gamers: (Forked from: Sexism in D&D)

Like? Except there is a difference between the DM determining probability (and there are alternatives to that as well) and the DM determining the result. And in my view, picks the immediate result if they succeed, assuming they're allowed to do it. Intimidating a door won't happen too often.

What alignment is Cobra Commander - the Official Word

Well, let's see, Buzz Dixon typed it up, and Steve...wrote it...which Steve? There are two listed on IMDB. Gerber and Mitchell. I think it's Gerber since he's listed as the Supervising story editor. You want to guess what his other credits include, or just check? look and see

The Game for Non-Gamers: (Forked from: Sexism in D&D)

It happens. I still don't think the understanding is completely, but maybe we're getting closer. So I'm not differentiating between the actions or what? How does what you want to do differ from how I said I'd do it? How are you doing things differently from the existing rules? You ask the...

The Game for Non-Gamers: (Forked from: Sexism in D&D)

Your example doesn't even come close to understanding what I was asking about. You are concerning yourself with the descriptions you're giving, instead of the game methods being used, which is what is concerning me. It's hard discussing things when we're obviously not on the same page. See...

    Metallic Dragons: Unaligned!?

A good number referring to a number higher than a few, less than all. I didn't bother to count them since I figured an approximation would be enough. Think somewhere over 1/8 and less than 1/2 if you need somewhere to go. And yes, it would be arguing over minutiae, and likely to be fruitless...

I refuse to play Global Thermonuclear War. It's the only way to win.

Stipend for nobles, knights, and their aids...

The key here is to do whatever you and your players will enjoy. There are some groups that would enjoy the management aspects. There are others who will say "Screw this, I want to get back to hacking through dungeons" . I would suggest, therefore, getting some input from your players as to...

    Metallic Dragons: Unaligned!?

None? I'd probably put a good number of them as a response to in-game issues, or even non-existant changes, and some have even been rendered null and void by later books. So um..yeah, my mileage varied quite a lot. I'm not even sure if I'm even using the same form of transport. But since I...

    Metallic Dragons: Unaligned!?

Warhammer 40K's RPG perhaps? I know I've played in individual games where every non-PC existed to be killed, but that's system independent.

The Game for Non-Gamers: (Forked from: Sexism in D&D)

So how do they matter? As I said, if you want to give bonuses, that's cool. If you want to penalize...that is something I'd use sparingly. If you want to require it...that's a bit too far. What exactly are you asking for? The only way describing your action can have an effect is if the GM...

Haven't DM'ed in a while, some questions for yeh

Ok, first, for a 2-session game, I really wouldn't try to make any changes, but play it straight. I'm not familiar with that scenario, but if you're playing that short of a game, there's no reason to really burden yourself (and your players) with a lot of changes to what is a fundamental part...

Make a note--next group I'm in, try casting an illusion on all the PC's so they look alike!

The Game for Non-Gamers: (Forked from: Sexism in D&D)

I don't know about you, but I'd find it a lot easier to explain to someone that X,Y,Z are the skills you're good at, because they match your high stats, than I would in training somebody to use various social techniques. Theatrics are way beyond my ability to coach people on. Actually, I find...
