WotC Dungeons & Dragons Fans Seek Removal of Oriental Adventures From Online Marketplace

I don't know. Is that how India, Pakistan and Russia see themselves? I know that the British tend to see it that way, calling India "South Asian", for example. I'm not sure if Indians see it that way. I know in Australia we only refer to what you'd call "East Asia" as Asia, and suspect that's...

WotC Dungeons & Dragons Fans Seek Removal of Oriental Adventures From Online Marketplace

Um, there are people still living who's lives were affected by British colonialism. Hong Kong is only the most obvious example.

WotC Dungeons & Dragons Fans Seek Removal of Oriental Adventures From Online Marketplace

Perhaps I misjudged this, based on the previous thread with all the "whaa, they're takin' my evil orcs!" and then Giltonio says how "people shouldn't pressure for books to be removed because they don't like them". So my point stands.

WotC Dungeons & Dragons Fans Seek Removal of Oriental Adventures From Online Marketplace

I'm not going to read 20+pages of back and forth over whether people have a right point out something is offensive to them. They do. They have a right to make a request to remove said offensive item. Whether the owner or seller of the offensive product removes it is a judgement for them...

D&D General The Gygaxian Origins of Drow and Some Thought on their Depiction As Villians

There are spiders that keep their children on their back for a time after hatching.

I'm not sure Ellie from The Last of Us 2 is a superhero or super-villain. Or maybe just a D&D Rogue? She sure can kill a lot, and is hard to kill.

D&D 5E (2014) Has anyone made feats into tiers?

Moderately Armoured is useful if you're a dex-based rogue with an odd-numbered dex. It gives you +1 AC from the stat boost, and +2 AC for shield, for a +3 AC for one feat. (Don't bother actually using Medium Armour.)

    D&D 5E (2014) How about Them Grung?

Also decanter of endless water, or a bag of holding (full to weight capacity with water).

D&D General WotC’s Official Announcement About Diversity, Races, and D&D

You don't convince people by telling them how to think, or to get over their feelings. They may have s perfectly rational basis for those feelings.

    D&D 5E (2014) How about Them Grung?

Grippli and Grung are small, aren't they? While Bullywugs are medium. You could use Grung stats for Grippli, just swap the poison skin out for a climb speed? But yeah, I'd be happy with a sort-of-official splat for Grippli, the way they snuck Grung pc's in.

I ticked "Spider-Man". But really, we have an embarrassment of riches in the 21st century. I loved both Daredevil and Jessica Jones on TV. Captain America in Winter Soldier and Civil War. Will Smith's Hancock. And so on...

    D&D 5E (2014) There's a Platinum Edition of the Icewind Dale Adventure!

Drat. I thought for a moment they were publishing Icewind Dale as a modular product, and ways of fitting it into places other than the Forgotten Realms (eg: Eberron.)

D&D General A look at WotC and Paizo Product Lines (and their different approaches)

It should be pointed out that Critical Role was using Pathfinder before they decided to stream. They went over to 5e because of its more streamlined system.

D&D General A look at WotC and Paizo Product Lines (and their different approaches)

I doubt D&D would be as popular, if, after watching Critical Role, people went and bought the core books and found them impenetrable. 4e would have had that issue, IMHO. 2e? Maybe. The fact that 5e is relatively easy to get into is a factor in its popularity.

I welcome our new robot overlords

I think there is a limit on the new jobs front. As machines get smarter, they'll be able to take on the new jobs their employment creates. Thinking otherwise implies human intellect is infinite, which is demonstrably untrue.

How often do you play a differently-gendered character when gaming?

I normally play males, being male. This is because of suspicious questioning (which might have been legit at the time, 20 years ago) by a fellow player as to why I wanted to play a female. Recently I played a gnoll, and decided that she was female, but didn't care that the hairless monkeys kept...

Is "A Wizard Did It" Acceptable Worldbuiling?

If a wizard did it, I'd want to be able to say which wizard, and what their motivation was. Even 'madness' has motivation: paranoia, rage, homicidal pleasure, etc. (Of course none of these have much relation to real mental health problems.) "Oh, that's an owl-bear. You'll find a lot of chimeric...

D&D General DM or Player Poll

I used to DM mostly, but that was because I insisted on playing games other than D&D; so that forced me to be the DM if I wanted that game to happen. Traveller, Champions, Vampire the Masquerade. When I gave in, and deigned to play "that silly fantasy game", I was mostly a player. That was 22...
