    Color Test

Not a problem for my as far as right/left brain is concerned, but my colour blindness played heck with the game. I spent quite a bit of time on each one trying to decipher the colour used. One, I think, had the word Green written in Red, (maybe one was brown?) and that was the only one i missed.

What shows are your "must sees"?

24 Smallville Star Trek: Enterprise (on the same day/time as Smallville, go go Gadget VCR!) I'd like to see Good Eats more, and make it a regular, but can never remember when it's on here. And between work and school, I don't have time for many other shows... not to mention that very little...

    [Jan] What are you playing?

Dark Age of Camelot, MMORPG. Been playing since September, actually, almost exclusively except for quickie browser-based games. Got a hankering to re-install the Baldur's Gate line as well....

Please Help Paladin and Paladinwife...Award winners listed!

Just sent some your way! My little sister would love a Dragon Tales bag if they have any left :). Also, a message to anyone falling on hard times financially. Don't forget about McDonald's, Wal-Mart, Chevron stations, and the like. These places may not pay much, it may seem demeaning to...

Revising the "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen"

Thought about it a bit, and came up with a few things. I assume we're keeping it contemporary, 1980's - 2000's, so no Star Trek and such. 1) Indiana Jones is a definite, even though he may be a little old. You could probably explain his age away a little by the life-giving properties of the...

Peter Jackson discusses directing "The Hobbit"

At least he's "the Grey," at this time, and not "the White!" :D

    Did you cry during ROTK?

POSSIBLE SPOILERS, just in case someone hasn't seen the movie. Yep, cried a whole lot, both times I saw it. Pippin's song playing over Faramir's charge to Osgiliath had me looking like a busted watermain. I audibly choked up during the "Release the prisoners" scene. There's a shot of a...

Peter Jackson discusses directing "The Hobbit"

I've never read The Hobbit, but: Instead of going from 13 (unlucky number), then getting Bilbo, why not start with a reduced number of dwarves in the film, say six, and Bilbo will be lucky number seven. Keeps with the theme of (un)lucky numbers, and has less characters to complicate the film...

[poll] What alignment are YOU? Pidgeonhole yourself!

Lawful Neutral, with Good tendencies. I am usually an adamant follower of the Law. I do not speed, I do not engage in illegal downloads, I usually do not jaywalk. I don't cheat in games, I follow rules, and lead a structured life. On a test I took this past semester, I noticed that my grade...

Songs & Movies that made you cry.

I'll make this a separate post, since the other was exclusively LotR. Most other movies don't really get me, but songs are another story. "Don't Take the Girl" by Tim McGraw gets me occasionally. Colin Raye's "Love, Me" is a guaranteed waterworks. Garth Brooks' "Belleau Wood," "The Dance,"...

Songs & Movies that made you cry.

Most of my "tearjerkers" come from LotR. The Two Towers. I teared up several times through that movie, every time I've seen it. The speech of "No parent should have to bury their child" had me bawling. I cried when the mother sent her children away as the villiage was set to be burned...

Should off-topic polls be allowed in the Off-Topic Forum?

I wouldn't mind, as long as people kept them from being non-sensical. Who's going to win the [sport] playoffs? Which is your favourite musical genre? I think those would be fine. "Have you hugged your couch today? Y/N" would probably not be.

    Worst job you ever had

Best, Worst, and Only: Student worker at the university tutoring fellow undergrads in math: algebra, trig, statistics, and calculus. We have a room set up, and about four tutors are working at any given time. The students that need help can just walk in; no scheduling, no fees, very informal...

Weird High School Projects -- Bragging Rights

In my senior year in high school, we read (excerpts from) Beowulf, and had to give a musical performacne on it. My group did the following: One of us acted out the story as it was being told (below), a second played his guitar for a soundtrack (Greensleeves? something like that...), and I...

    [calculus] Tough problem... any help?

Howdy. I'm an undergraduate math major working as a math tutor at my university, and had a student come in today with a related-rates problem. Another tutor and I both spend about 45 minutes on it, making almost zero progress. Any help would be appreciated. :) ******************* *...

TTT Extended Box Set - Nasty hobbitses. Theys locked us in a box.

I peeled the paper background and cardboard support tubes away from the edge of the box. Some peeling occured on the back of the insert, but the image wasn't harmed at all. This allowed me to life the entire insert out of the box. After that, the styrofoam lifted out easily when I pulled on...

Movies that would be cool, but will never happen

I was just thinking yesterday that it would be awesome to see the old cartoon series Gargoyles made live-action, if they could pull it off right. Maybe a live-action series/mini-series would suit it better. You could ramp up the action a bit, make it a bit more on the grim-and-gritty side...

[upgrades] CPU and Video card. Questions and request for recommendations.

My parents and brother are looking at upgrading their computer this Christmas, and we would like some advice. First, let's talk CPU's. Currently, we have a PIII 600MHz processor. This is a Gateway Performance (500 or 600, I believe), from way back in 1998/1999. We're wanting to upgrade to...
