    Archlich - the Vecna killer

Even if the Archlich did get the 'Undead' keyword, I think DM adjudication would prevent this from happening. Vecna is the god of undeath; if he wants to exclude you from his aura, you better believe you're going to be excluded from his aura.

    Trolls!

This is how I would use trolls: 1) If the party does have access to fire/acid, I'd use them as regular mooks. 2) If the party doesn't have access to fire/acid, I'd use them as part of a tactical challenge. Imagine a fight where the only way to stop the enemy for good would be to knock them...

    Dracolich: Stun-o-riffic!

I don't mind players getting their grubby little mitts on a stun power now and then. A 'stunned until end of your next turn' Daily power is fine, for instance. I also don't mind it on a monster's encounter power... I've seen Dragon Fear used in a way that was really fun. The DM used it on our...

    Mad Wraith Questions

This would be my ruling too, FWIW.

    Dracolich: Stun-o-riffic!

I was flipping through the MM, and I took a good look at the Dracolich for the first time. And, holy cow, is this little bugger fond of the stun effect. All but one of its attacks cause stun, including its close blast 9 breath weapon and an at-will immediate interrupt! I can just imagine...

    What is it about rogues?

I play a lot of online games via Maptool, and I've noticed one more "it's always the rogue" sort of thing. The rogue seems to be the favored class of younger, less experienced players, players that "alwys mispell thngs lik dis", make poorly-built characters with little to no attempt at a...

    I love D&D!

I just have to chuckle at all this doom-and-gloom, "D&D is dying!" stuff. Maybe it's because I just started playing in December. And maybe it's also because I've managed to get all of my friends from high school playing it, friends who used to consider it social poison. Friends who now all but...

    Name Game

Looks good to me. I'd only suggest making it a Daily instead of an Encounter power; hopefully your Leader isn't going unconcious every single Encounter, so it seems like kind of a waste otherwise. I'd also consider making it 'each creature in burst' instead of 'each enemy in burst'. Just not...

    Cone of Secrecy

I wrote an essay about discovering D&D for my college creative writing class. I could tell there were some chuckles at my expense, but they couldn't say bunk about the writing itself, so what do I care?

    Random Dungeon: The Kobold Warrens

The goal here is to create a randomly-generated dungeon for a level 3 party of four players. The adventure is united by a skill challenge, the goal depending on whatever the DM desires. It can include finding safe passage through the winding warrens, finding the lair of the kobold's dragon...

    Wild Sorcerer Control Questions

Hmm, I'm not convinced it's supposed to be bad. 4e seems to do away with all the "you just got screwed by a dice roll, sucker" stuff, and I think this includes the idea of magical backlash. All the other wild socerer effects that involve an element of randomness all involve either something good...

    Wild Sorcerer Control Questions

"Must" seems to strongly imply that the push is not an option. This, by the way, is one of my favorite bits of the Wild Sorcerer. The unpredictable angle. In one encounter, my Sorcerer used Bedeviling Burst against two targets, one of which was the dreaded Needlefang Drake Swarm. The other was...

    Shaman AC too low?

I tend to agree with this. When building my Protector Spirit Shaman, I just had to glance at the starting sheet and thought to myself, "Gee, guess I should take chainmail as my first feat." Does it suck a little? Sure, yeah. But every build has its ups and downs, and every build has was for you...

    Shaman's Spirit Companion Questions

Two things: 1. Zones, Mage Hand and Flaming Sphere are all examples of 'normal' Conjurations that cannot be attacked or physically affected. Spirit Companions, however, can be attacked or physically affected. They are different. They are still Conjurations, yes, but they are obviously an...

    Shaman AC too low?

Oh, man! For some reason I assumed the totem was like a holy symbol, in that it didn't occupy a slot. But then I looked it up, and yeah... it's pretty much a primal rod. That sucks that you need to actually wield it... and it also makes me wonder why they'd give longspear proficiency (and only...

    Shaman's Spirit Companion Questions

Customer Service on that thread I linked to says they are... but Customer Service answers often feel like they're throwing darts at a corkboard labeled "yes/no".

    Shaman's Spirit Companion Questions

Trust me, the new Conjuration rules was the first place I turned, but I still found them wanting. This thread, for instance, claims that the Spirit Companion is subject to opportunity attacks: [Shaman] Spirit Companion Problems Master List - Wizards Community So it's not really as cut and dry...

Dwarves make as good/better primal characters than elves.

Meh. I'm just relieved that Dragonborn are actually good Dragon Magic Sorcerers. It'd be a rather silly oversight, otherwise.

    Elemental Power Source Speculation

Sounds good, but my only question is... why wouldn't a Wild Magic Sorcerer be 'Elemental', then?

Playing a 4e/PHBII Shaman? Let's hear about it

That's, uh, actually all they can be used for. If Spirit's Shield was a regular, any-time-I-want At-Will? Oh, man. Forget about it. Surgeless healing whenever you please? The entire party would be indestructible outside of combat, and pretty darn resilient within it.
