    Quick Question: Only two players

Give them each a free healing power -(as if they multiclassed), its supposed to be a fun game afterall. No need for companion characters, keep the attention on them.

Writing - When do you use\not use computers?

I work it out on pencil & paper then transcribe it electronically later, it just seems right.

Need Guidance on running a large group

Assuming you HAVE to run this many players. Delegate - someone else has to run initiative, declare who's up and who's on deck. Timing- you're going to have to give people a time limit on their turn, and it's going to have to be short - I'd suggest 30 seconds. Exceed the limit lose the rest...

Warhammer fantasy roleplay disaster, what happened

I suspect your group is fairly young and inexperienced. This sounds like a very familiar case of a bunch of immature/new players having no idea how to play-and of course failing to have any discussion whatsoever to remedy the issue. Everyone's been there, talk it over like adults and maybe...

    D&D 4E 4E Hack: "Fiction First" Playtest

Could you elaborate more on #1? I'd like to hear a bit more in depth on how the simultaneous actions are working out so far. Keep up the reports, I look forward to reading them.

Have you ever ripped off an idea & passed it off as your own?

Does this mean that using my wishsong to transport a ring of power to its destruction while evading a horde of forsaken wizards and foilling the plans of a crippled god would be frowned upon?

    Monster Vault First Impressions...

Did they finally go back to making it a binder? Cause that would be awesome. I hate flipping pages.

Why I don't GM by the nose

I run a sandbox game so I felt that maybe I should chime in here. My game is sort of a blend of a sandbox game and a story based game, if I had to define it in in a phrase I would call it an evolving sandbox. The players are free to do whatever they want in the setting, they have many...

Question for players: how much reading is okay before a campaign?

I'll read lots if its a friend and its good. If only one of those criteria are present probably 10-20 pages max. If its for a random gaming associate and it sucks well after paragraph 2 I'm probably done. I'd say 1 page for houserules and 1-3 pages of background is a perfectly acceptable...

How many EN Worlders are within 100 miles of you?

    16. Lower than i would have expected with 15+ gaming stores within 20 miles.

    D&D 4E 4E Hack: "Fiction First" Playtest

I like most of the ideas here, but I'm definetely not a fan of the attack roll also being an initiative, double punishing someone for a bad roll seems unnecessary( miss and likely another wasted action since they can't close).

Top three Important Books in History... and D&D!

Shocked that no one has mentioned the Magna Carta yet....... Although not religious I would say the Bible as it led to the printing press and thus the spread of knowledge beyond scholarly circles.

    WFRP3 - Agile Warriors?

Well simply put WHFRP is gritty fantasy, nimble skill melee dudes aren't going to succeed against heavily armed, well armoured strong dudes very often. As for defensively that's the whole point of dodge and improved dodge, you may also see that you get bonus dice with either of those for...

    Long Combats are Bad

I've come up with a solution for speeding 4e combat - it lowers the drama a tad though. All at will powers do average damage. No calculating, no rolling damage, critical does max. For encounter powers the damage it deals is rolled when acquired, it will always do this amount of damage, if...

    XP for roleplay/social accomplishments

I'll get some flak for this, but I've always been of the opinion that good Roleplaying should be worth MORE xp than combat. Of course I'm currently running Warhammer FRP 3e so there is no XP......

    Your game trajectory

1994-1996: Basic - not sure which -it was pretty tattered sadly no longer in my possession. 1996-2002 : 2e AD&D 2002-2002: 3e (for maybe 3 months, didn't like at all) 2002-2007:Hiatus (planned some games and roled some characters but no playing) 2007-2008: reluctantly ran a 3e game...

    FFG's Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

How so? there's a set probability of rolling any particular face of any die, you just need the ability to select which dice you're rolling and to have the program randomly generate the appropriate results. Hell it would be probably faster than real rolling since you could auto-tally the results...

    FFG's Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Solid review. After a 5 month RPG hiatus I'm reintroducing this to my half-new/half-old group. We only got to finish most of the adventure in the GM book before real-life intervened. I agree with your assessment, the ideas are clearly brilliant, but the execution could have used a bit more...
