I have seen in other threads proposals for the Noble to be the base class, with Warlord being a subclass. Other sub classes could be Mage Commander / War Mage and some sort of social / diplomat commander focusing on influene. I rather like this, what do others think?
As the OP, I should probably answer my own question.
Classes
- some sort of warlord / noble / whatever name you want. This should be the kick off to mass combat rules.
- a psionic class of some sort - great intro to Dark Sun
- an artifacer class - good intro to Ebron
Subclasses
- an...
Secured Encampment is excellent. Exactly the sort of thing I think a warlord type character should be doing. My background is as a military officer, and a secured encampment is the sort of thing I set up for my troops all the time when I was in the field.
Hi everyone.
A big mechanical expansion is comming relatively soon for 5th edition. What do you hope, dream, want, etc to be in it? What would you like to see expanded upon? What classes, subclasses, races, feats etc would you like to see.

Thanks everyone. Some good suggestions so far. I am working on putting them into the chart. Tony I am trying to build this on a Warlock chasis to have maximum flexibility for sub classes.
Here are some more ideas for a warlord. I based this off the warlock. Please help me fill in the rest of the chart and suggest tactics.
Warlord
Class Features
As a warlord, you gain the following class features.
Hit Points
Hid Dice: 1d8 per warlord level
Hit Points at First Level: 8 + your...
Unlike my other threads, I would like this one to focus on what skills, powers and abilities a warlord should have. When Quintis starts, what should he be able to do? As he levels up, what options should he have? What subclasses should be available to him? This board is full of passionate...
So the problem is the name in this case, not what the character does? I have no problem changing the name, just what should it be replaced with? I like Marshal. Other possibilities include Tactician, Strategist, Advisor.
I am really surprised that Warlord was not in the recent series of unearthed arcana articles on classes. That seems like a real missed oportunity on Wizards part. Even if nobody liked the class it would still have shown they were working on something that a group of players find important...
I think you have answered your own question Jester. An apprentice warlord is a character with growing tactical acumen. Ever character has to start somewhere. The fighter is good with weapons, finds them to his / her liking and practices to get better. The wizard finds spells to their liking...
Hector
Rather than use his strategy to boost allies, he uses it to demoralize and disarray his enemies. With choreographed attacks that are designed to be as demoralizing as they are damaging, he causes enemies to miss opportunity (attacks), take penalties to hit or damage, or to incur...
Elfcrusher, I think we have very different views on game design and what is enjoyable in D and D. I personally think that not only is this a line that should be crossed, but that it should have been crossed much earlier. I believe that the Warlord is a valuable addition to the game, allowing a...
Elfcrusher, I do not believe I am hearing what you are saying properly, as what you are saying makes no sense to me. I am not sure what your intent is but what I am hearing is:
My perception of the warlord class is that it is above others and automatically tells me what my character can do. I...
