    Burnt out GMs

D&D is our main game, and I avoid burnout by: A) Having a very good and competent DM in the player group. We usually play Star Wars in his time behind the screen (about 3 times a year for a month at a time or so). Soon we will be starting Call of Cthulu. B) I also will actually run different...

    Chicago Area FLGS

Me and my friend were in from out of town. 2 hours was not enough, if you can believe it. We could have easily browsed another 2.

    Chicago Area FLGS

I'll second Games Plus, it is an awesome store.

    best battlemat?

Go all the way and get a Chessex Mega-Mat. It will cover most tables and comes in handy when you need to map out big sections of a dungeon without erasing. You may think it's too big, but unless you have a tiny table, there is no such thing. When certain sections aren't in use, players just put...

    [OT] Thank You Thalmin

Yep, Thalmin's a great guy who runs a great place. I can't wait to head back to Chicago just so I can get back there. Hang in there, Angelsboi. You are in people's thoughts and prayers.

I Will Post No More Forever

Take care, Tom. Drop by every so often anyways...don't make it a permanent thing. Maybe you just need some time away...perhaps another group will spring up from the ashes like a Phoenix.

    Anyone here from Edmonton, Alberta?

Man, that is news, TB...is it job related? In any case, hope everything works out well. Guess you can trade in your Canucks jersey for an Oiler one, eh? :)

What are you reading -- for fun and inspiration?

I am right in the middle of the Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb. Assassin's Apprentice, Royal Assassin and Assassin's quest are the titles. So far so good.

Encumbrance, hunger, and less gold = more immersive roleplaying...?

I will be hanging my head in shame and taking the next train up to Boston for some well needed pointers. Kevin, I hope you've got a spare room. :)

    Worst DM Quotes at Gencon

The idea of running a game at a con is partly intriguing and partly frightening. I'd love to test my wares against a group of strangers, but my one and only experience when playing at a con was, well, interesting. It was a Call of Cthulu game run by Scott Aniolowski, who has published several...

    Morrus' Gen Con Report

Re: Re: Morrus' Gen Con Report Wow, Morrus, you didn't tell us that you were hanging out with Enrique Iglesias at Gen Con. Seriously, though, I hate it when guys say this kind of crap. And they're usually the ones that end up Pepe' Lepue-ing their targets into submission. Half the time the...

    Adkison's Gen Con report

Re: Re: Re: Adkison's Gen Con report Hey, if we're sticking up for Avalanche Press count me in, bro. We can fight back to back. :) Seriously, good D20 product (did they not win an Ennie?) and titilating covers? What more could people want?

WotC setting search winner - Eberron

Dinosaurs and Industrial stuff. Two things that will never see the light of day in my campaign. Congrats to the winner for earning the $120,000. Shame on WotC for picking such an odd (but probably well done) world.

How Do You Curb Table Talk?

I curb it by generally allowing it to an extent. The only time I don't abide it is during the middle of a role-played conversation or something like that. But if it's during a lull in the action or even during combat (provided it isn't slowing things down), then I don't care too much. As long as...

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

Re: Re: Bears and Hobbits Not bloody likely, don't you think? When have the Bears ever gone after a top quarterback in the last 40 years or so. Other than McMahon, who, while serviceable physically, was the only Bears quarterback in recent history to have that intangible "X" factor. Stever...

    [Malhavoc] cry havoc!

There was a mass combat system for 2e. It was called Birthright, and it was pretty darn cool if you ask me. Simple but elegent, incorporating magic, terrain, archers, etc. And it was true mass combat - each war card was 200 men. We had battles with thousands of men on each side.

    Babes of Gencon 2003

Re: Re: Re: re Actually, it's the breast size to hip size ratio that men subconsciously pick up on. Forget what it is, but the busty Marilyn Monroe and the waiflike Audrey Hepburn had the identical ratio. There is an "ideal" number that men almost universally are predisposed to notice.

    Dwarven Forge Mastermaze

I have both, and if you are: * On a budget * Have some spare time * Have some space I'd say WorldWorks. Denny does great work. Not to say I regret the Master Maze stuff, there is nothing like it's quality. If you have some money, definitely pick up a Room and Passage Set or two. It'll serve...
