    Whole lotta lurkin' goin' on

I agree com....oh, wait :D . True, but the cut/paste function might start to smoke from over-use. So that I'm not totally off-topic: I've been a lurker since 1999/2000, but it was only after I started working in places that allowed me to visit gaming sites and post that I registered and...

Greyhawk and Faerun on the same planet?

For what it's worth, in my Greyhawk campaign FR is an alternate Prime Material Plane accessible through the Plane of Shadows (as per the suggestion in MotP). I occasionally throw an FR NPC or reference in, in spite of the fact that I'm staunchly pro-greyhawk. I guess it just seems right to me...

Greyhawk and Faerun on the same planet?

The only obstacle would be that they're officially in two different planar cosmologies. But if you want them to be on the same planet, go for it.

First-ever GenCon: What should I expect?

Advice for a Gen-Con newbie If you can, find a Gen-Con vet who likes the same things you do and ask to tag along. There's so much going on it's easy to miss great stuff and a guide helps. Another thing I'd recommend is take some time to look through the program/schedule they give out, circle...

    Concept sans crunch

I'm currently playing a longspear-weilder, and I find Spring Attack is loads of fun.

Anyone ever run a Diablo II based campaign

Well, I've adapted/adjusted several of the monsters from WotC's 3.0 Diablo book for use in my games, but most of the stuff in that book is either bland beyond belief or over-powered beyond reason. To answer your question, in short: no.

Anyone want to help adjudicate a Wish spell?

True, true. The primary reason I'm in favor of some kind of cosmic reaction is that I see it as a chance for the characters to influence and be influenced by the game-world; an opportunity for, as I've said, role-play, story and character development. My group probably wouldn't abuse a light...

Anyone want to help adjudicate a Wish spell?

My last statement was poorly worded, I didn't intend to imply that any rules are being broken, just that this falls squarely in the "unsafe" category for Wish, and while the wish in question may not be against the rules, allowing it out of hand may (that's may, not will) bring more trouble than...

Anyone want to help adjudicate a Wish spell?

While you could rule that the breath weapon is one event no matter how many saves it incurs if that's the way you see it; but I'm pretty sure that's not the way the Wish spell is written - and that's the sticking point for most people. If a Wish is made that is outside the guidelines of what...

Anyone want to help adjudicate a Wish spell?

Ahh yes, that would be why. One of the few I don't have; I'll take a look at it.

Anyone want to help adjudicate a Wish spell?

The original poster already stated that he and his group have established that the Wish as worded in this case is outside the bounds of Wish as written. Given that, the party should expect some type of logical, reasonable consequence for pushing the spell beyond it's intended and express use...

I'm not a wizard, druid or ranger. Can I get a Familiar or Animal Companion?

Well, there is Item Familiar in Unearthed Aracna, I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for though.

Anyone want to help adjudicate a Wish spell?

I see. The problem here is that the negative effect (the failed save) and the death happened in the same round, simultaneously, in fact. You can't undo the one without undoing the other.

Anyone want to help adjudicate a Wish spell?

I disagree; the "negative effect" killed the characters. At the time of the casting of the wish, they are dead. After casting the wish they will be alive. If you're going to play semantics with the timeline and say that after the wish they were never dead, then does the Sorcerer get her 5,000...

Anyone want to help adjudicate a Wish spell?

The main reason I suggested the Marut was that its express purpose, the reason it exists, is to punish those who avoid death.* Note that it needn't be an outright opponent, just a consequence of using wish magic to turn back the forces of fate. Interesting that you view using wish to bring...

Worst RPG System You Ever Palyed?

Essentially yes. I ran it at the last Gen-con before Indy, a few times at the first one in Indy and also ran a storyline for my regular group. It's not too bad, really. The rulebook layout is horrible, and it's very rules light, so it requires a rather heavy-handed GM and a trusting group of...

Worst RPG System You Ever Palyed?

Sin-zar (or however it's spelled) Ok, I didn't actually play it, but I have the rule book, it's good for a laugh. You can create a starting character that can level cities. Worst I've played? Um...probably Aberant d20, mostly because it totally changes the feel of the game and doesn't...
