D&D 5E (2014) How do you generate ability scores for PCs?

This varies with the campaign, but the 27/28 point-buy is a solid default and it allows the player to customize their character as they see fit. They have to run that character for the next few months, so it's best to grant players a wide degree of latitude so long as what they create fits well...

Shemeska's Baernaloth Cycle: Lazarius Ibn Shartalan, The Architect, 1st of The Demented

Infecting the mind of a child and shaping its development to adulthood is delightfully wicked. Gradually eroding morality and empathy as water reduces stone while accreting cruelty and callousness in their place is a long-term strategy worthy of an architect whose project is the nihilistic...

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour - (Updated 18June2024)

The posts above inspired me to look up the relevant stories, but many of the links at Planewalker.com aren't functional. If Shemeska ever does finish the stories of the 13 Demented and their associates, I'd like to see them posted here as this seems to be a stable web site.

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour - (Updated 18June2024)

Oblique references, veiled hints, passing allusions--wheels within wheels, indeed. The Waste is the final word in pits of despair and hopelessness and your Demented reflect this admirably. For beings of power notionally on the same team working toward the same goal, they spend at least as much...

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour - (Updated 18June2024)

Oblique hints, veiled references, passing allusions, and all with their own agendas driving them apart even as they nominally work towards the same notional end--wheels within wheels, indeed. No wonder the Gray Waste is the final word in pits of despair and pointlessness--they're almost as...

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour - (Updated 18June2024)

So noted and so it has come to pass, well wishes sent & candles lit. All this chaos in the very manor of a Duke of Hell and so many independent actors seemingly able to make mincemeat of his household staff--doesn't speak very well of his recruiting practices, does it?

Might anyone be able to supply a suitable link for further information regarding Taba the Atroloth?

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour - (Updated 18June2024)

How does one survive to successfully climb the ladder of station in such a wretchedly back-stabby hierarchy? Unadulterated evil, indeed.

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour - (Updated 18June2024)

King of the Crosstrade? All that and Queen of the Cliffhanger, too! This story hour is a delightful addiction and would make one heck of a fine cRPG. *tips hat*

[Planescape poll 2] What makes up the elusive Planescape "feel"?

As Pathguy said... RPG as a heavily atmospheric, gritty philosophical bull session that could genuinely touch a nerve when approached from the right perspective--Planescape done right.

Refined Palate? And yet my tummy rumbles and I salivate nonetheless... Hmm, some of this lothyness is rubbing off on me. Or maybe it's just my inherent drive to hunt and satiate myself on my own kills. Regardless, bon appetit!

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour (Updated 29 Jan 2014)

Post-Yule Yugolothly Fun! And 2014 is looking better and better. Shemeska is once more marauding the Storyhour and Obsidian's Pillars of Eternity holds much promise for those of us no longer in a position actively enjoy a Pen & Paper gaming session. Great stuff, vicious vixen arcanoloth.

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour (Updated 29 Jan 2014)

What a crock! It's quite a pity that so much of your material has been denied a proper venue for Planescape fans to enjoy. What we need is a compendium of your works as written before they were cast aside or molested by some rotten editor.

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour (Updated 29 Jan 2014)

And Then There Were Four...Suspects Yep, I saw the dimensional anchor coming as a logical extension of the power of the elusive assassin. Why let your prey scurry away to safety when you can prolong the hunt and heighten their terror by locking down their best means of egress? The question...

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour (Updated 29 Jan 2014)

Yes, I recognized it immediately and that bodes ill for our party. One does not lightly brush up against events that old (eons?) and malefic without some sort of contamination or fallout.

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour (Updated 29 Jan 2014)

Memorable stuff, King of the Crosstrade. *tips hat* This storyhour just keeps getting better and better.

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour (Updated 29 Jan 2014)

Who Dunnit? My money is on the cleric of Thoth or one of the associate scholars, but I wouldn't wager too much. Shemeska is moving a lot of players around the board and there's power afoot that can't be linked to anyone directly...yet.
