Personally, I'd probably follow OD&D and have it be E12, with level 6 spells at the top of the regular progression. I think the OD&D power scale works a lot better than the Greyhawk+ scale with its level 9 spells.

This is what I did for my 5e FR campaign - 1e Grey Box + 1e/2e Bloodstone Lands, started in 1358 DR, up to late 1361 DR now.

Well if you play most of WoTC's published adventures as written, it tends to feel fairly easy after 4th level I think.

I was able to get the AKS dice roller installed and running just now, but only by booting up Microsoft Edge. Nanny-State Google flatly refused to let me open the AKS files on Chrome. Edge warned they were unrecognised, but let me download the 12 KB dice roller.
