I'm with you on not liking monks in the pseudo-medieval fantasy that is D&D. They just don't fit the vibe. I'm cool with them in the PHB as they are an option for some settings, but don't fit in others.

Much needed. I used the Mummy Lord stat block reskined when I needed a higher level hag. With some small changes it ain't half bad.

When I wanted more grit with 5e I removed Cleric Cantrips. Gave Clerics and extra two 1st level spell slots ( this mirrors 1e with clerics having lots of first level spells). If clerics got a cantrip from a sub class then they could use it normally but other wise casting a cantrip tool a spell...
