    Pathfinder 2E Martials > Casters

Our party consists of the following: 1. Dragon Instinct Barbarian 2. Gymnast Swashbuckler 3. Storm Druid 4. Lesson of Fate Witch I thought the barbarian would be more tanky with higher hit points, but he seems to be more like a rogue using rage for big damage instead of sneak attack. He really...

    Pathfinder 2E Martials > Casters

Why am I having a such a bad time with my barbarian? He gets hit so often with the -1 AC and medium armor. What are the barbarians in your group doing differently? Did they go more Dex and Con focus than Str? Are the barbarians in your campaign tearing it up? The champion seems much more...

    Tales of Wyre

I recall this story from so long ago. I wonder ever happened to Sepulchrave and his group. Did he ever finish this campaign?

    Pathfinder 2E Martials > Casters

The barbarian really takes a beating in PF2. His AC is not great. Hopefully this becomes better as the barbarian gets higher level. The barbarian deals a lot of damage, but he takes a lot of hits too with medium armor, dex-dependent, and -1 AC when raging.

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2e: Actual Play Experience

This week my party was questioning whether a wizard would be useful at higher level. AoE damage would have really helped take down some of these high level multi-enemy encounters with fairly tough creatures. Some of these high level creatures when used in multiples can really dish a lot of...

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2e: Actual Play Experience

Np. That is a good way to look at it. In combat, skill feats are there to provide player agency in power choice. I would cleave pretty closely to skills as intended in combat as that shows a degree of training and rewards choices that a player makes other than everyone picking Acrobatics for...

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2e: Actual Play Experience

As far as adding some play experience info, watch out for the Purple Worm. This creature can be a TPK machine if you play it too ruthlessly. It's ability to attack, grab, and swallow all in the same round with a high level of success is nasty. This thing would literally in two rounds rise up...

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2e: Actual Play Experience

Your DM is being hard on you. That sucks. Hopefully he or she will loosen up some once they see that small allowances won't break the game, unless you're playing PFS of course. Then you gotta roll with it until some modifications come out.

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2e: Actual Play Experience

They do it in Age of Ashes during the most important social interaction of the fourth module. They've done it other areas here and there. The new APs seem to focus on allowing multiple skills to do things in slightly different ways that ultimately accomplish the same thing whether it's allowing...

Pathfinder 2E How is PF2E prep and GMing?

I guess we'll disagree on this. Keep on the Borderlands is the classic sandbox dungeon of my old generation and it was populated with monsters of a particular level range. In PF2, you very much can use a classic sandbox style of play as in making a sandbox with a given level range while...

Pathfinder 2E How is PF2E prep and GMing?

We will see if that is true in due time. PF2 is a different game catering to a different audience. It is unlikely to ever compete with 5E and shouldn't even try. They should be looking to make their fans happy and they addressed many of the complaints of their fans. Now we'll see their fans want...

Pathfinder 2E How is PF2E prep and GMing?

No. I do not. I have not experienced attrition by hit points in nearly 20 years save at low level in the post-2E era. If that is your experience and the experience of others, so be it. My group has always ran with a well-designed healer in every party. We did not experience hit point attrition...

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2e: Actual Play Experience

They design plenty of encounters for overcoming social interactions without using Diplomacy. For example, in a module in an AP you use skills like crafting to do the equivalent of Make an Impression. The idea being that in the given situation your expertise at crafting can substitute for...

Pathfinder 2E How is PF2E prep and GMing?

Definitely zone it into levels. It's like other versions of D&D contrary to some of what you're hearing. You can create a sandbox like Keep on the Borderlands, the original classic sandbox. Even in that early version of the game, you still didn't want your level 1 players running into the...

Pathfinder 2E How is PF2E prep and GMing?

I'm not much understanding your viewpoint as I don't recall hit point attrition being an issue for about 20 plus years now in D&D games. Can you provide examples in PF1 or 5E of an attrition style of play that doesn't use resource attrition like spell slots, combat healing, and daily abilities...

Pathfinder 2E How is PF2E prep and GMing?

You're really asking this? Paizo owns PF, not 5E. They responded to their PF base because that is their fan base and who they were listening to when designing PF2. Nearly everything I see in PF2 is criticisms levered at PF1. 1. PF1 isn't balanced at higher levels: Now it is balanced at higher...

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2e: Actual Play Experience

None of those are facts. Because something is not spelled out does not mean it is not possible. They wrote up those rules to allow players to choose those options if they have a concept, but in no way does it constrain DMs from allowing such things if they so choose to do so. I think that is...

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2e: Actual Play Experience

More options should help. In your case, I'd just write some house rules for the player. It doesn't seem to me that dragon claws would throw the game off. Dragon class seem kind of weak. You could boost the damage to 1d6 or 1d8 and likely be fine. Then I'd let him design some item similar to the...

Pathfinder 2E How is PF2E prep and GMing?

If I were creating an open world, sandbox style situation, first I wouldn't worry about how badly your players hammer everything since they are likely to fight everything with full resources every day. I still remember my PF1 players going through Kingmaker and my 5E players doing Out of the...

Pathfinder 2E How is PF2E prep and GMing?

I still believe it is far easier to harry a party in PF2 than it was in PF1. In Pf1 it took rounds to heal up to full. You could heal an entire party up to full using wands, potions, and channeling within a matter of rounds or minutes. In 5E it does require a short rest to get some hit points...
