What single houserule has made your game AWESOME?

The purple index cards (http://www.enworld.org/forum/4e-fan-creations-house-rules/271730-purple-index-cards-fly-setting-plot-collaboration.html) totally make my game. A year from now I won't remember how often a PC hit or missed against an equivalent level monster or whatever, but these little...

    Double jump?

I believe there's a Rogue exploit that lets you do this legally, video game platformer style. ^.^

Monk To Hit- I don't get it, weak?

Since this is an online game, do you have logs of the dice rolls? If so, you could look through them to see if this is the case. A triple-check on the dice macros and token stats wouldn't hurt either--I've seen very subtle typos that could hamstring a character if not detected.

Purple Index Cards: On-the-Fly Setting and Plot Collaboration

Magic items might indeed make a good alternative. The classic D&D rewards are levels and loot, after all, so if you remove the former, you still have the latter ^.^ "Say That Again...", "But Soft..." etc. are a little different from the rest. They're more like RP rewards for particular...

Purple Index Cards: On-the-Fly Setting and Plot Collaboration

Nev: I hadn't really thought about these in a one-shot or convention environment. As discussed a few posts up, you'd want a different reward scheme, since experience points aren't terribly important in that situation. But it could certainly be fun--turn the traditionally on-rails feel of a...

Purple Index Cards: On-the-Fly Setting and Plot Collaboration

Thanks for the comments! My players like XP--perhaps because they all play quite a bit of console RPGs (Dragon Age being the current favorite), I don't know. And for me, the pace of advancement of by-the-book experience is almost right... meaning that players earning an encounter (or two)'s...

Purple Index Cards: On-the-Fly Setting and Plot Collaboration

What's Next? Suffice to say, I've had a fantastic time using these cards! For instance, just last session, the party's Dragonborn Bard played "I Find Bloodspattered Armor Sexy" to have a white dragon fall in love with him. ^.^ Of course she tried to carry him off to her lair... Please share...

    D&D 4E Advancing 4E Monsters

A good thought! Start with the http://www.enworld.org/forum/4e-fan-creations-house-rules/255224-book-npcs-2-0-a.html and it's super easy, too.

    <rant>Psionic Magic?! WTF?!

I prefer simply "psi." Feels more elegant--for me, the word "psionics" clicks into the semantic space of "bionics", like some sort of machinery to enhance psychic powers.

    Bloodied While Dying - Confirmed!

Regeneration explicitly doesn't work when you're at 0 or fewer HP. It's really just stuff like Consecrated Ground that this matters for.

    Slaying Action

It's like the first interpretation, but ever-so-slightly more flexible. You could deal sneak attack damage, use an action point for a move action, then apply sneak attack damage to a minor action attack, for instance. It "refreshes" your Sneak Attack feature, but only during the turn you spent...

    Book of NPCs 2.0

Great stuff as always. Hurrah for the Book of NPCs! I see you no longer have house rules regarding how much XP these opponents are worth. I take it you decided they are about worth a normal monster's challenge after all, or that the difference in difficulty wasn't enough to merit the added...

    January Rules updates 2010

Yeah, the ruling's a bit on the strange side. As I've seen it pointed out elsewhere, allowing vertical teleportation is like adding "Xd10 damage and knocked prone", with the X based on the falling rules, to every teleport-your-opponent power. The rules update just gives a 55% (under normal...

Stuff I want (From you 3pp People)

Oddly enough, the Monster Builder makes third-party monster books more usable for me. I can punch in the details and have them ready to go in standard format when desired (especially when used in conjunction with fan tools like this one -...

    December Rules Update Available

So the consensus on Footwork Lure seems to be that it no longer works at reach unless you have Rushing Cleats or the like. (You get your shift, but since you can't fulfill the "slide 1 square into the space you left" effect, it doesn't happen.) Unfortunate, but I'll deal. What about the update...

    December Rules Update Available

Yeah, that's downright strange. Would "shift 1 square and pull the enemy into the space you left" be a better wording maybe?
