    Alternate Fighter

Well, somewhat A. I'd allow you to replace the Heavy Armor ability with another feat since Heavy Armor IS a feat. Not being able to use Tower Shields, well, um, nothing there unless you want to drop the Shields ability as again it IS a feat. For your character concept, Dodge and Mobility...

    Character Generator

Then don't distribute anything. Data can and will be used if its put out into the public domain one way or another. Thats been proven over and over again. The only way to keep the data secure is to lock it up behind closed doors and make it accessible only in small chunks and even then...

    Character Generator

Yes, but that depends too on the license to the data. If the license does not give any stipulations, i.e. the PDFs for same from Wizards, then the user can pretty much use the data any way he sees fit for personal use, in any format he can convert it to, etc. If the license is a bit more...

    Looking for a new OS...

Try Dr.DOS :) God that was a great disk operating system! As far as hardware with Linux, some of the more current hardware has solid drivers, but not everything does if you had oddball hardware. And drivers won't get updated as fast because MS has the huge install base, and the Linux distros...

    Character Generator

Encyptions can be broken, big deal. Then again, why encrypt the data sets, if they ever get distributed, when WotC through Fluid never even bothered to password protect (not that it'd do much good anyways) the Access database used in eTools? How much non-SRD material was in the database I...

Next Chicago Gameday - November 15th!!!!

Unless something comes up in the mean time, I'd be willing to run a M&M game.

    Sword of Dancing

What is the opinion on the Sword of Dancing in whether you simply need to hold it for a standard action or it must be used in a standard attack? I didn't see anything in the errata or FAQ concerning it. I feel that, based on the way it worked in 1st and 2nd edition, you must make a standard...

    Opinions On E-Tools

Well, I think its more akin to the Titantic... something that is better left in its final resting place.

[Campaign Suite] New Update Coming (XML, 3.5 and more)

Ok, let's see the specs and the DTDs on the XML files! :)

    Opinions On E-Tools

PCGen is one I was referring to, and one of the free ones. Its free, it can be as bad or good as someone opinion on it, but it didn't waste a person's money AND time to try and use. No, I'm sorry, the analogy would be more like a bunch of tailors fixing the hull with a large canvas sail...

    DSForgeworks v1.1

Well, it has a much better database design than e-Tools (wait, *WHAT* database design) that even follows normilization. And while the UI feels sorta old, its a bit cleaner than RPM. However, RPM allows you to modify the rules more directly since they are all scripted.

    Opinions On E-Tools

Don't buy shoddy software, and that includes e-Tools. No amount of so-called "fixing" or "bug squashing" by any 3rd party will ever cause a ship designed with a hole in its hull to every be fixed. There are plenty of other software out there, see the various threads here, that do the same...

Best system to run an X-Men type game?

M&M all the way. Its very flexible, has no Hit Points [although it has a side-bar about them if you want them] or Classes... both extremely good things for supers.

    Battletech D20?

Yeah, I thought so too. Mms, I suppose if you only play without the Level 3 or Max. Tech rules, it goes a lot quicker. Then again, its also very dependent on the # of mechs you play with, the tonnage of the mechs, etc. Not sure about the RPG rules, never really dealt with them... except on...

Can I Get the OGC From M&M?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Thank You and more . . . So? You still agreed to the EULA and within it they give you specific permission to do use the software in question within certain guidelines. When you use the SRD as a basis for a game, you have had to agree to the OGL, which is in a...

    Battletech D20?

Depends... I bought M&M for like $30 bucks and its only 192 pages, and it was worth the money. So 302 pages, if its good with nice layout, etc. would be worth $14 more bucks. 'Sides, if you buy from like Barnes and Noble or Amazon or even EnWorld you generally get a small discount so it should...

    Battletech D20?

Well, there is a different feel to BattleTech than there is to a more Japanese/Anime mecha approach. Its more, well frankly, western and the mechs are for the most part basically tanks that walk. That being said, Heavy Gear is much like BattleTech, albiet as I remember the "mecha" are a bit...

Can I Get the OGC From M&M?

Re: hm Yes, that was my point. Sigh, caught up in my own words. Actually I am doing it under the OGL, not the MM SuperLink, since it doesn't need to be tied back to MM. But yes, you are correct, to use the MMSuperLink you do indeed have to drop them a note and let them know whats up, etc...

Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures Handbook: Chainmail rehashed?

Well, haven't seen the rules for it.. but if its anything like Chainmail, I won't be all that impressed with it either. However, if it integrates more smoothly with D&D/D20, then that to me could be a good thing even if the rules aren't the best [after all D&D/d20 aren't necessarily the best...

Can I Get the OGC From M&M?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Thank You and more . . . Well, because Chris Pramas and Green Ronin only published it. Steve Keneson wrote it, so he's the person who should be thanked if any. And besides, what you wrote is a far cry from asking for permission. Sure, but not if it comes down to being a...
