    Allowing Non-fighters to specialize?

Sure, both the Barbarian and Paladin have other ways of generating even more excess damage, although not as often so it sorta flushes out. If they really want to specialize, they should take 4 levels of Fighter.

The Most Simple And Best Rule Improvement Of All Time!!!!!

I've left it as is even though I am an avid multi-classer [not to mention zero-ruler], simply because I find the classes as written way too restrictive in terms of matching character concepts. Not to mention, I've also not seen a lot of 3+ class characters with all the same levels either.

The Most Simple And Best Rule Improvement Of All Time!!!!!

I don't see how this works for anything but characters whose classes are all the same level. If you have a 9th fighter/3rd wizard/2nd level rogue, it sorta fails. If you feel that the current system is a bug, then why not just have the player total up all the levels of classes that have the...

Which is better, M&M or FCtF?

Blacksad has some good points. However, I disagree that it wouldn't be good for a FF game. Just because the equipment is dealt with power points, doesn't rule it out. You could create a simple character that says X power points costs X credits. So if you had a 100 power point device, it'd...

Help me find a new motherboard

Getting a new motherboard won't gain you anything really unless you are planning to upgrade your CPU and memory, or your current motherboard is broken. And unless you are getting more memory, i.e. upgrading to 256 which is min. for Win2k/XP and is a solid amount of WinME, going to DDR memory...

Which is better, M&M or FCtF?

Depends. Are you more interested in yet another d20 game that plays much like D&D except in a different theme? If so, look at FCTF first [it is cheaper]. And thats not to say its D&D in a super's costume, but since it uses all the d20 rules and therefore does not have its own character...

    Grim n' Gritty rules...

Probably doesn't, but adding more HitDice or class levels to monsters, using higher CR encounters, etc. does. After an encounter or two where the PCs are either dying or dead because they just charged in willy-nilly, I'm sure that the players will get the point and start parlaying more, using...

    Two-handed swords

The feat is already in 3rd Ed, its called Expertise. :) As for the double weapon, as you said if a character is going to use it as a double weapon, then make it an exotic weapon and give it like d4 bludgeon damage for the pommel.

    Space Shuttle Columbia lost?

Columbia was the first shuttle in space. However, none of the materials such as the heat shingles were "old", regular maintenance kept the shuttle up to date and all the shingles are expected after every flight and replaced. Its basic frame however, was the 15 to 20 years old but the rest of...

    Space Shuttle Columbia lost?

I'm pretty heavily involved in online simulated auto racing and have put together a new paint scheme for the next season in remembrance, just thought I'd share some pics.

    Space Shuttle Columbia lost?

Doing so would not do service to the scarfice made by the Challenger and Columbia crews, not to mention the other members of the extend space program who have died in the line of duty.

Chicago Gameday - Last Comments then to the Archive!

Just did a GM of that, for the first time, last night. Great fun. Yes, its based on the d20 rules, but it does not play like any of the other d20 games [D&D, SW, Modern]. Most enjoyable.

d20 Star Wars -- if you were writing a 3rd Edition, what would you change?

Try playing WEG StarWars or a OGL game like M&M that doesn't have the class or hit point (VP/WP are hitpoints, just a variation of the theme) restrictions. As it stands now, d20 SW is, of course this is my opinion, nothing more than D&D in StarWars guise. I'm not interested in playing D&D in...

More Chicago Gaming: D&D in FR

Re: Gaming Doh! Sorry Justicar, I totally missed this. My apologies. However, think the group I'm in is at its comfort level as far as # of gamers at this time. Thanks!

    Why Convert to d20?

Re: Good points! Yeah, thats a good point. And its really an unwritten part of the GMs job. :) However, by the same token that puts a lot of work on the GM especially if the system is more complex and/or you have many casual gamers. No problem... probably the same arguement can be used for...

What is an isn't Open Content

Actually its not. M&M is under the OGL which means the mechanics are OGC, but the flavor is not nor are any of the names of skills, feats, powers, etc. Things like the Quintessial books are pretty much OGC since at the bottom of every page they contain "This page is OGC material" (paraphrased).

    Why Convert to d20?

I guess you first since I never said anything about GURPS or HERO being simple, heck I never even once mentioned them in that sense. Hogwash, the commonality between D&D gamers is not all that large either. Go check out some of the posts about minis and 3.1/3.5/whateveryouwanttocall it...

    Why Convert to d20?

Uh, why do people who are playing other RPGs want to go to the d20 RPG? Why should they have to leave their games for d20 just because D&D happens to be popular? Converting all sorts of games such as ShadowRun, MechWarrior, the DP9 games, etc. to d20 just for the sake of it or because D&D is...
