Do you know what a leitmotif is?

When is the rest coming out? I'm still trying to figure this out. And the leitmotif wasn't really that big a deal. It's not like I said "Hey! I don't recognise this word! Stupid book. I'm not going to read this crap!" I kept on reading. If the word matters than I'll look it up later. But it in...

The difference between Ad&d 1st and 2nd edition?

It wasn't keeping track of characters it was that not everyone used the same dice. Most used d6, but some used d8 (I can't remember if any other dice were used. The d8 just kinda stuck in my head.) And I still don't know how to figure surprise when one character is surprised only on a 1 and...

Consulting the Sages - a Poll by Edition

I knew it! The US government is controlled by a secret cabal of Beholders!!!

Consulting the Sages - a Poll by Edition

This has been my experience as well. Not sages per say, but asking questions from temples, wizards and that sort of stuff. Oh yeah and lets not forget the "Gather information" skill and divination spells.

Do you know of a great FLGS?

Consider Legends Games and Comics in Towson Maryland added. I've known the guy who manages the store for many years now and I can tell you that he likes to play the games as much (if not more) than the customers . :D

Do you know of a great FLGS?

That's because apparently it fell into a wormhole and landed somewhere in Kentucky in the USA. :p

The difference between Ad&d 1st and 2nd edition?

For me the big difference between 1e and 2e was that 2e tried to clarify and fix the massive jumble of rules that was 1e AD&D. They stream lined a lot of rules and nerfed some (I'm looking at you ranger!). They weren't always successful but it was avery good effort. The best part was that you...

    Shaartre Warrior

I agree about the katana. It probably should just be a reflavored bastard sword. Here's my suggestion for tweaking blade mastery (via Ferghis) : Blade Mastery (11th level): You gain proficiency with all heavy blades and can use them as ki implements. A heavy blade wielded by you gains the high...

Temp Hit Points to an unconcious player?

Off the top of my head, (without any rulebooks) I would say sure! Why not. It doesn't heal them any, but it will make them harder to kill.

    D&D 4E 4E Followers and Mercenaries

Here's a link to a blog called Greywulf's lair here that may be relevant to the op's question. I think I, personally, would make a 4e "Leadership" feat to go along with these rules. Also I would use companions characters as followers as mentioned above. I remember having fun in 1e with giving...

    The Conqueror's Shadow, now available!

I'm new to this thread so I missed the original posting, but I have to say you and everyone else have sold me on it. I'll check it out and get back to you!

    Is Insight a Magical Ability?

I would never require an insight vs. bluff check unless you are interacting with someone who would have a reason to think differently. For instance if you are a changling disguised as a dwarf in a town who has never seen a dwarf, there would be no check. Who would know differently? But, if you...

Traveller Classic Starter set free on rpgnow

Wow that brings back memories. I haven't thought of Traveller in years! Even though the games never lasted long it was always fun. Traveller was only the second role playing game I ever played. I feel like a kid again.

    [April] What are you reading?

I just finished Deadhouse Gates by Steven Erikson. These books are very dense reading, but some of the best developed characters and world I've seen in a long time.

Who would win in a fight?

I agree for pretty much the same reasons. Elminster works with magic which totally screws with Supes. Neo need his computer world to do anything cool. Luke just isn't as much of a bad ass as Elminster (though if he was fully trained as a Jedi, it would be a different story. That would be a...

A Sacrifice/Bargain to Raise the Dead

I think this is a good idea. Maybe this undead has something that needs to be returned as well. That way it's not just a seek and destroy quest, you also need to find a lair for it's hidden goodies. On a side note, I personally like what you (Stoat that is) did with the bargain in the first...

Important: Please Read! Changes Are Coming!

I for one am looking forward to the Gamers seeking Gamers function. I already got one player from EN World without it. I would like to see how many I can find with it. And I find the inline comments an interesting idea. I've already had some good laughs from people playing with the xp. Let's...

D&D 4E Do you want more 4e classes, races, feats, powers, etc?

Alright lets see: Feats: I would like to see feats that support existing (and especially the newer and/or undersupported) races and classes (like, for instance, Changling Assassins ;)) I remember during the design of 4e, one of the goal was to make your choice of race matter throughout your...

    Withdraw Action

I'm not sure how you could justify penalties until the next extended rest. That seems rather harsh and unnessissary. I like Fanaelialae's alternatives. I personally would change the "Counter opportunity attacks" rule with a flat "+5 vs. opportunity attacks until the end of your next turn"...
