    What's the moderation like here?

I figured Piratecat liked flumphs because they taste like Bacon! :p

Seminar Transcript - Reimagining Skills and Ability Scores

I kind of like the concept of Devas as a theme. Think about it: the 4e Deva was all about them being reincarnated over and over. Why not be reincarnated as different races instead of the same race? I think the concept is very flavorful. (If that's what is actually going to happen. Remember it's...

AD&D 2E Should 5e use optional rules like 2e did?

I think you have just described what they want with their modular approach. Pretty much everything is going to be optional.

    DDXP Begins Today!

That's it! If DnD next doesn't support Mountain Dew at the gaming table I'm out! Who ever heard of a Dewless Dnd?

Does anybody else miss 1st L Characters

If I were to create rules for first levels characters, I think what I would do would be to make all characters first level as per 1e. Then include options for beefing up those first level characters for those of us who don't like squishy heroes. For example, as an option, instead of rolling...

    Should point buy be discouraged?

Personally I don't see a problem with having point buy, random rolling (by whatever method you want), and/or an array of stats. Let the DM and players decide which to use. You can use one, two or all three options if you want. As long as everyone is consistent everyone should be ok with it...

D&D 5E (2014) Are you going to start at level 1 for your 5th Edition PCs?

Without a proper context about levels, you should always start a new system at first level. As the group gets more experience with they can always start at different levels. As Grydan said you need to learn the system first.

    Number of PHBs and DMGs

I think if they put the core rules in a PHB and a DMG I would be fine with it. I also wouldn't mind a PHB2 with optional rules. Actually now that I type that it sounds like I want a set up like the BECMI books. You know, core rules in the first one then add layers of complexity with later ones...

    D&D 4E 4E/5E Transition issues

I actually agree with you and gideonpapys. I think it would be a HUGE mistake on WotC part not to support the 4e CB. I'm just saying that it can be, has been and still is done without the CB. It would be a pain in the butt for me personally, but I 've played very complex characters in the past...

    D&D 4E 4E/5E Transition issues

I think that 4e gamers in general (myself included ) are spoiled by the character builder. It is a wonderful tool for managing your character and for having all of your options, literally, at your fingertips. However, in every previos edition of D&D and GURPS and Hero etc., we have...

    A subforum for 5e?

This has been discussed before and I believe the thought was not to do a separate forum when there hasn't even been an announcement yet, just unfounded (but probable IMO) rumors. Maybe one on the creative artistic types that we have posting here could come up with a "5e Rumors" tag like we have...

Which Essentials class do you like the most?

I agree with this. The bladesinger is a great single person controller. And when Bladesong is active they can do striker type damage especially when you use your dailies with it (and the MBAs that follow). I'm having a blast with my bladesinger as well.

Pixie in heavy armor: Penalty to fly speed?

I think that's reasonable. The game was not originally set up for pc's with an inherent fly speed. I would guess it was thought that any pc fly speed would be a class or item power which wouldn't be affected by armor. I would be very surprised if errata wasn't forthcoming. On a side note...

Trailblaizer on sale at Loot! for $10.

I haven't either. I sent an email on 9/21, got a reply on 9/23 saying that the publisher shipped to the wrong place. That was almost 3 weeks ago. This was my first purchase from the Loot! sight and likely my last.

Tor.com article about David A. Trampier

I always loved that "Emirikol The Chaotic " illustration. It just oozed bad ass wizard. And the PHB cover is so iconic that it has been imitated many times.

Congrats! (Hopefully you weren't in the one behind my house that woke me up at 530 this morning.) I know it's a real accomplishment just to finish. Not everyone does.

    Facebook Changes

On September 31st 2011 Facebook will start charging you for your account. To avoid this, you MUST get NAKED, stand on your dining room table and do the Macarena, all while singing "I Will Survive". Then, and only then, will Mark Zuckerberg come down your chimney to tell you that your account...
