    Player's build is to strong?

I'd allow something like that, but the player would be on the top of my hitlist.

Name Five Things You've Done That Others Probably Have Not

I had a college buddy with a glass eye. One day I walked in on him cleaning it. He looked up at me, smiled, and said "Hi." I nearly fainted when I saw the gaping hole where his eye should have been. I've always been a bit queasy about eye injuries.

Fighters vs mages at high level.

So now the wizard did know there was going to be a fight, because it's prior arranged duel in a small ring?

So what do/did you study in college? Did you bother with college?

I've got a BA in English lit, with a minor in Classics.

Fighters vs mages at high level.

Let me get this straight: Under your scenario the encounter could start by the fighter showing up uninvited to the wizard's tea party. The fighter is clearly looking to kill the wizard. My solution is for the wizard to leave. Clearly your swordman has failed to fufill his intended goal...

Name Five Things You've Done That Others Probably Have Not

    1. Repossessed cars and foreclosed on homes for a bank. 2. Nearly ran over the governor of my state because he was standing between me and my supper. I was hungry and I didn't immediately recognize him. 3. Got my picture in the town newspaper for sending Ronald Reagan a get well card back...

    Feat Selection: Half-Orc Cleric

I guess I don't need the Dex that badly. I can certainly see the advantage of the 15 Wisdom over the long term. I suppose it would grate were I to reach a high level with this guy and not be able to use some spells because of low Wis. I was leaning towards buckler anyway and getting a crossbow.

Fighters vs mages at high level.

Once you step away from a stand-up fight to any scenario other than a planned duel the wizard should just leave. Tell me how the fighter prevents the wizard from escaping. I don't run high level characters but if I was an epic wizard my first line of defense would be some sort of Get Me The...

    Feat Selection: Half-Orc Cleric

Sorry 'bout that. :\ It just took going over this idea with some other people to see that my concept was too unfocused. And I'm sorry I didn't make this clear earlier: I'm building a half-orc cleric of Boccob for roleplaying reasons, not because I think it is necessarily a good mechanical...

    Feat Selection: Half-Orc Cleric

Okay, maybe my ultra-strong half-orc mystic theurge was a pipe dream. What if I go with straight cleric, keep the strength at 16, but rearrange the other stats for a fighting cleric type? Str 16, Dex 14, Con 14, Int 10, Wis 14, Cha 6 might work. I know I could push Int down lower but I really...

    Feat Selection: Half-Orc Cleric

To push Wis or Int any higher it will take off two points from another stat for every point of increase. I guess I can spare it in Str, but this guy needs to double as a frontline fighter for at least one level. My plan was to put my stat pushes into Int to catch up with Wis. I don't have a...

    Feat Selection: Half-Orc Cleric

Howdy, folks! I got such great responses around here when I asked for advice I thought I'd try again. My burninating sorcerer probably won't see play right away because another player is very keen on bringing a wizard to the table. So now I'm working on a half-orc cleric. My plan is...

Would old 1st Ed adventures sell if remade as 3e books?

Although I might buy some reworked old modules, I don't think the nostalgia demographic is large enough to support sales on the order of magnitude to which Wizards is accustomed. Were some smaller outfit to secure a Hackmaster-like license then I think that party might be able to make money...

How did you arrive at D&D?

It was spring of 1982 at the KB Toys store at the mall in Bloomington, Illinois where I first spied this strange purplish-pink box sitting on shelf. The cover said "Dungeons & Dragons" in a font kinda like you would see on a storefront sign in a Western, but the cover art. Oh, the cover art...

    D&D should go point based!

I'd love to play a wizard with something cooler than a dang familiar, but that doesn't change the fact that I want predefined classes in my D&D game. I may not want exactly the core classes WotC offers, but I do want a class system for my D&D. As others have said, you might as well switch to...

    D&D should go point based!

I really like Everstone, but the idea that core D&D needs to look more like it is just crazy-go-nuts.

I want to set people on fire.

Alas, flumphs aren't approved for PCs in Living Greyhawk. I'm definitely going to use this idea in my home campaign though.

    Counterspelling?

I didn't know counterspell existed until I read that one Order of the Stick comic in which Vaarsuvius uses counterspelling against the bandit sorceress. I looked it up and now plan on using it if opportunity ever avails. I've found Order of the Stick to be very educational more than once.

    The "Gandalf" in your campaign

That's pretty much how I approach it. However I have been known to peddle in false Gandalfs from time to time. Like Randolph the Red, a real jerk of a wizard who was often seen in the company of a dozen dwarvish marauders and a halfling thief named Mr. Daggins. (Never ask him his first name...

I want to set people on fire.

Hey, now! I ain't trying to start a flamewar here! Some people really like psionicists. Just 'cause I'd sooner play a flumph* doesn't make them wrong and me right. More importantly, psionics haven't really been a core piece of Greyhawk. *No seriously. Just this morning I was thinking...
