The Great Conjunction (RPG DESIGN CONTEST)

I was going to tell you about the great ideas posted by a guy called "Wik" on his blog. But you probably already know about them ;).

am i the jerk or is my friend?

You're definitely in the right, especially since everyone should be able to see what he's turned into by looking at him.

    Super-Hero systems: pros and cons

Is there a thread or webpage somewhere that compares many of the superhero RPGs out there, not just M&M and SAS? I for one would love to see a comparison of the pros and cons of Wild Talents Essential Edition, Supers20, Mutants and Masterminds, and so on.

Other fairly recent, high-quality, professionally-produced, original fantasy RPGs?

I think Reign might be what you're looking for. It's 1) Original 2) Crunchy 3) Has a very cool fantasy setting. 4) Gothic and baroque, not emo or funny. 6) Indie, but well produced. 7) New, because it uses the ORE system.

    No More Gargantuan?

But the question we have been asking is, HOW does it not enhance your game as much as it could? HOW are you worse off than if "Gargantuan" had been printed? Monster size has little mechanical effect in this edition, so it is no trouble at all for you to change the size. The only way it could...

    Edition Idol

I know you're being facetious, but I can understand Betote - and it's how I voted. The original D&D hadn't accumulated a lot of what makes D&D distinctive, and 3E and 4E culled a lot of that accumulated material. 3.5 didn't change "D&D" beyond the changes already made for 3.0, it just tweaked...

    Here There Be Gods

They've mentioned designing a class is very time-intensive, so I wouldn't expect it for a while.

    Criticise my Grognard d20

Weren't half-orcs also present in 1E? Why are halflings more liimted in options than even gnomes? In BECMI and other early systems, they were actually closer to rangers or fighters than rogues. What about prestige classes? Are they available?

    Swordmage stats...

He has a respectable Intelligence and Constitution as well. I don't see a problem with him choosing a stat that isn't one of his class stats - in fact, it shows a commitment to playing a character instead of playing a combat role. To ensure he shines both in and out of combat, place some skill...

    Divine Power Source

There's no reason to think that. But there won't be any martial classes in PH II.

If we combine Dark Matter and Gamma World, we get...

I think an interesting campaign would be if you played regular mutants in Gamma World, who in their life pre-apocalypse were investigating the entity or force which caused the apocalypse. You'd play flashbacks as your DarkMatter characters discovered the cause of the apocalypse, and you'd play...

    D&D 4E 4E character creation

Also consider reflavouring some of the figurines of wondrous power in Adventurer's Vault as shards of bone from which you can call the spirit of the creature that once had that skeleton.

    D&D 4E Homebrew setting I'll use for 4e

Hi Rel, It's certainly an interesting premise for a campaign setting. I wonder, however, if you're getting carried away with the fresh ideas. For example, Rich Burlew wrote about his campaign setting taking place on a cube - which he thought was a great idea at the time, but it never actually...

    Redefining INT and WIS

It seems to me an intelligent person should be able to anticipate and preempt the course of action others take, should be able to process information about the battlefield quickly and respond with well-reasoned, but immediate, responses.
