    SRD 3.5 Competition

I've got to do Magic Items, Psionic Items, and Monsters before all the text is the way I want it. I finally nailed down the fonts I want to use for everything but the tables, and I'm almost decided on the page layout I want. All things considered, I should be done with some time to spare (but...

    Mystara 3e--Anyone else following this?

Personally, no. They spent so much time dickering over elves and gnomes that they're about three years behind me as far as my campaign goes. I've already got a whole host of races, prestige classes, Immortals, spells, the red curse, and magic items converted on my PC. Too little, too late...

    SRD 3.5 Competition

So let's see... if I can get the text finished by mid next week, that'll give me about seven working days to finish up and tweak the formatting before I turn it into a PDF. Yeah, I'm both ahead and behind schedule :D

Are you going to do the Steampunk thing?

Planning on getting Fantasy Flight's book so I can consider working some "steampunk" into things. I think fantasy and technology mix well in most cases.

    Book of Fiends

Since I never picked up LoH or AotA (but intended to), this is great news! I really prefer the hardcover format, even if it is a higher price point. Softcovers get harmed or warped too easily.

    How are you using Ghostwalk?

I've been working on and off on my own setting (which I'm code-naming "Dusk" which, naturally, has nothing to do with the Dusk from around here) and I'm thinking about using the ghost rules with it. I'm not all that interested in Manifest, but I think I might create a city called "Purgatory"...

There is no emoticon for what I am feeling

Okay, there is NO WAY Eric's grandma would approve of language like that, Mr. Potty Mouth! :o :p

    SRD 3.5 Competition

Yeah, you're right. My bad. I forgot I went through and did some initial formatting on the RTF file before I made the jump to a DOC. One of the things I did was make tables with tab delineation so Word would automatically make cells based on the tabs. It... sort of worked :D As for page...

    SRD 3.5 Competition

Making it look pretty in Word isn't a problem. It's getting to that point. Word does some pretty stupid things when you play with it. Some examples I've run across just in working on the SRD: 1. Brute force styles that have nothing to do with the style the source document used. If I want it...

    SRD 3.5 Competition

Heh... I still haven't moved beyond Word XP on mine :D I'm half tempted to jump straight to PDF from Word just to see how well I can compete with people that use expensive, complex programs while I'm using a word processor - and one that sucks bricks at page design at that! I'd post a sample...

    SRD 3.5 Competition

No house rules. No damage. No decay of usefulness. Cryptic enough for you yet?

    SRD 3.5 Competition

Count me in. I aim to do something similar to what Cergorach is promising but to give it away for free because... I was going to do it anyway :D Of course, my SRD will be tweaked slightly. It'll all still be the same old OGL crunch-fest goodness... just, well, you'll see.

    Encounters with the Supernatural

I've got some stories. Nothing as creepy as the black-eyed kids, but interesting anyway. First of all, I see color on black and white TVs. Or rather, I did as a kid, as we haven't had a black and white TV since then. We had this B&W TV in the kitchen we'd watch the news on at lunchtime...

    Gunpowder in your games

The last time I DMed a Mystara campaign the characters spent some time in the Savage Coast. We had a swashbuckling ranger/fighter in the party that had two wheellocks and a rapier. He'd always use the guns first in battle, but only ever reloaded them if he was at a safe distance from his target.

    Sell me on a setting

I own Ghostwalk (and someday if I have time I'll even review it so it isn't ignored). The rules for playing "ghosts" are very elegent and mesh seamlessly with the standard D&D rules. Basic idea is you die and come back as a "ghost" (incorporeal outsider). As a ghost you continue along either...

    Disappointed in 3.5 books

There are a couple of fundamental misunderstandings going on here. First is the nature of the skills in question. Sense Motive doesn't make you a genius, it makes you a great judge of character. Being that is it a Wisdom skill that you can use untrained, the implication of the designers is...

The whole POINT of 3.5 (that everyone is missing)

Bottom line is this: The books are just tools you can choose to use or not use to make your game better. Most of the issues people have with them comes down to semantics. I don't see why a DM that doesn't want to take the time to convert monsters from D20 Monster Book X can't just throw the...

    Pocket Players Handbook

Here's the easy solution: Someone with the full Acrobat program takes the SRD when it becomes available online, puts it together in Word and formats it so that it looks good on 8.5X11 pages. This Word file is then turned into a PDF. People who want a "Pocket SRD" take that PDF and, when...

    Ditching traditional fantasy conventions?

I've always wanted to rework the Phantasy Star games (Sega Genesis & Dreamcast) into a D&D setting, but I haven't really done anything with it yet because of the sheer volume of work required. It requires developing new classes, races, a point-based magic system complete with all new "spells,"...

    Anyone got Dragon 310 yet?

Guess I'll actually have to try and find one in the bookstores around here. My normal Dragon hookup hasn't had any in for, oh, about a year (thankfully none of the Dragons had, "Must buy," elements in them) and now that there is something I actually want in Dragon, it may be a chore to find it.
