TSR The Making and Breaking of Deities & Demigods

Thanks for the (hi)story! And even more for these great books. Legends & Lore was by far my favourite AD&D book. Still sad that I cannot find it anymore, got to ask my old D&D friends....

YouGov D&D Alignment Survey - how many Britons identify as Chaotic Evil?

That's a good one for sure! Really funny way, to ask directly are you good/neutral/evil. Perspective, I say... As always with alignment, all debatable.

There is an android app for free called "companions".

    Firearms

As a DM you can always say no. And offer him some alternatives: - the crossbow solutions as mentioned - firebolt cantrip (magic initiate feat) with a pistol shaped wand :D

Why are tieflings so popular? How did they manage to outcompete all the other wacky races to win their place in mainstream D&D?

Tieflings - nobody ever played one in our campaigns. Guess we're too old (-school...).

D&D 5E (2014) The Charismatic Fighting "Hero" - Which Core Class does it Best?

Sorry for the non-fitting answer: Any good role-player with a melee-capable PC with some decent Charisma. ;) No matter if barbarian or swashbuckler or bladesinger or your examples.

    D&D 5E (2014) Help me with good RP/Optimization balance for Half-Elf (probably)Valor Bard (archer?)

It's 5e: bards are best at spellcasting. So from an optimization point of view, forget the bow or use it for role-playing reasons - or in the lower levels to do a little more damage than with your cantrips. It seems your main focus is the role-playing, so just do what you think fits the role...

What's your opinion on "Save or Die" effects?

It's part of the game, and applies to both sides. So, I love it and hate it. In 2e I played a high level bard who almost single-handedly ruined the DM's plans by disintegrating 3 of 7 liches... Even worse are the "simply die - no save" spells... power words.

why paladins (smite) are powerful: action economy efficiency

Paladin is a good class. But as you mentioned it depends on the style of play. If playing how 5e was designed with many fights between long rests, it is absolutely balanced. That is my experience from playing a paladin in ToA, especially compared to our hexblade fighter, getting almost...

D&D 5E (2014) Matt Mercer Just Changed My Mind About Multiclassing

Nice video. After having played all previous editions and PF, I thought the multiclassing rules are quite clear and simple. And I like them, all of it. Concerning internet influence on my games: sure! From rules to builds to adventure ideas. AND: especially the Mercer videos inspired me and a...

How do you handle hit points?

Movie heroes dodging grenades & bullets - that's many hp.

D&D 5E (2014) How Do You Learn How To Design A High Level Adventure?

No matter what level, the story, plot, characters and DM performance are still more important than monsters, traps and stuff like that. Just keep in mind what kind of obstacles the PCs can overcome too easily with high level magic.

    How serious is your d&d?

The game itself is deadly serious. But playing for 30 years now with some guys and knowing each other quite well... we often fall back into 15-year old behaviour - and have lots of fun, silly, dirty, stupid jokes and language included. Some reasons for not taking my 16-year old son to our...

If an NPC is telling the truth, what's the Insight DC to know they're telling the truth?

I don't see why not to use insight checks. DM info can vary depending on the roll result - which the DM should do. Possible info: - you can't tell - npc seems nervous (which can mean a lot) - npc is lying - npc is telling the truth This depends on the insight vs persuasion or deception roll...

    Who Killed the Megaverse?

It was me. I killed the SciFi in Fantasy. Same with Fantasy in SciFi. Never liked Star Wars. Too much Fantasy. Never liked it, not in the 80s, not now, not inbetween. Don't know why. But I had to do it. Period.

WotC Considering NPC Stat Format Change

For some statistical things, tables are the best to get an overview. But if they only change the basic one line description: don't care. It will probably not change the game... ;)
